Explain Please - Can someone who orders this please explain what the purpose of two different types of milk is? Obvs I steamed the coconut and added the almond milk cold but I really don't understand why people do this.(i.redd.it)

When people mobile order they just like pushing buttons. That’s my theory.
Pyrexiana106 points1y ago
I say this every time I get a ridiculous mobile order, my fav is a grande drink “in a grande cup”
ProfessionalRock7940 [OP]30 points1y ago
Okay right I don't understand that?! Like what size cup do you think I was going to make this in??
overturned235 points1y ago
I think that’s a glitch
eatass420vorelord-6 points1y ago
Sometimes I think people use that to mean double cupped?
ProfessionalRock7940 [OP]5 points1y ago
Even as an iced drink though? Idk
KJ2998SJ8 points1y ago
I think most of the time this happens because people see the "cup size" button and click on it, curious to see what options (dunno why) and then once clicked, it shows up whether it's a different cup size or not
Rare-Introduction-302 points1y ago
I know a few of our regulars that do this so we will double cup it but it’s usually an americano and we’re already gonna double cup it cause they get really hot.
ProfessionalRock7940 [OP]11 points1y ago
No kidding though
poopylilbutt50 points1y ago
They probably wanted 1/2 of each. I do this with iced chais - oat & coconut milk to balance the flavor.
Indica-daddy8 points1y ago
Yep! They all have different flavor profiles. Think of them as individual ingredients, OP! ✨
ProfessionalRock7940 [OP]5 points1y ago
Hmm okay
Kmsss33 points1y ago
I have customer that gets 75% coconut milk and 25% half and half. It just tastes better to them.
technicolourjpg14 points1y ago
me too! it was 1:1 coconut milk and H&H though and when i steamed it for the first time it smelled sooo good but then i tasted it when i had some of the milk leftover and it was ass LMFAO
ProfessionalRock7940 [OP]3 points1y ago
Hmmm interesting
sh3nan1gans_23 points1y ago
I have one guy that comes in and gets a grande pike w/ 1/2 nonfat, 1/2 2%, 1/2 breve, 1/2 heavy cream, 1/2 almond milk. Like that’s not even coffee at that point
ProfessionalRock7940 [OP]9 points1y ago
That sounds absolutely disgusting. And your paying so much for just milk? Like???
sh3nan1gans_8 points1y ago
At that point just make it at home right? Because this dudes a regular too 🤦♀️
cookiemonstah875 points1y ago
Buying all the milk varieties for home would probably be more expensive for him, unless he drinks enough coffee that he makes it through all of that milk before it goes bad
DirigibleUme22 points1y ago
I do this for myself sometimes with almond and oat. Oat steams better but is too rich for my tastes by itself. Sometimes I do almond and coconut. it's only when I'm making myself a drink and can deal with my own hyper specific ass, lol. We do have a few customers who get half soy half coconut in a tea or americano (not steamed). Everyone's got a preference I guess, not that there are a bagillion options.
heytherecomputer9 points1y ago
I have a customer who wants 1% milk but we don’t carry that, so she wants half 2% and half nonfat. That’s probably not what happened here but idk some people have taste preferences that are strange to me.
MonstrousGiggling5 points1y ago
I think that's actually what we are supposed to do if someone asks for 1%. Not sure if thats still a thing but I remember it from a training because it seemed so...extra.
LustxLife3 points1y ago
I’m sorry but that is absolutely ridiculous 😑 she needs to figure her shit out
IthacanPenny-1 points1y ago
I don’t get what’s ridiculous…? Like, she likes 1% milk. That’s a standard product. Since y’all don’t have it, she mixes 2% and skim. That’s not weird. Nor is it unduly burdensome to make. What’s the complaint here?
heytherecomputer1 points1y ago
What makes it ridiculous for me is that she insists on always mobile ordering and since 1% isn’t an option, if she doesn’t get there fast enough (which is about 1/2 the time), she’ll have us remake it. Her name is really generic so it’s hard for us to anticipate this and it overall is kinda just annoying behavior.
IthacanPenny1 points1y ago
I mean that’s fair. When I want something specific, I definitely come in to the cafe to order and watch my drink being made.
SunBusiness82913 points1y ago
Honestly, she needs to decide and choose one. It's not that it's so difficult, just that it's ridiculous. Do that ish at home.
xCherryBombshell7 points1y ago
It's possible they wanted coconut and almond steamed together but there's no real way of knowing unless they show up while you're making it.
You did it the proper way as the sticker suggested though!
HelenAngel5 points1y ago
I used to do this to balance the flavor. Coconut milk can be too sweet for me sometimes. If you’re lactose intolerant, sometimes you have to mix & match different non-dairy milks to get the milk flavor you want. (Note- I’m not lactose intolerance but my partner is)
BeastBoy2point04 points1y ago
when i do iced lattes i do mostly almondmilk then add a splash of oat bcuz i like how it tastes 🤷 i have a reg who does something like that bcuz of the flavor/less cals
maybe they just wanted half and half ,,, idk lol
galaxydisco173 points1y ago
They probably like the taste and consistency of it. That's what I do with oat milk and almond milk, kind of like a nondairy breve.
[deleted]3 points1y ago
People trying to get lattes without paying for lattes
aee783 points1y ago
They probably drink it at home. Almond and coconut blends have been around for a couple years as a creamer. I think some brands are starting to sell them more as milk substitutes. I found it to have a more milk like texture and milder milk like taste, then they individually do.
salaciainthedepths3 points1y ago
I fully do this myself, for myself, because it has big ‘creating potions like a witch’ energy. Would never order this if I wasn’t on bar, bored.
SeparateAd34732 points1y ago
They actually sell the coconut and almond milk combo at stores. I’ve had one man ask for this. Coconut milk and almond milk have similar consistency but different flavors so I guess it is a preference. I have yet to try it but I might give it a shot one day.
ShannyES2 points1y ago
We have a customer who gets a hot chocolate - half almond half coconut milk. I asked her about it and at home she uses an almond coconut milk blend. So she’s used to that flavor and she said it tastes really nice because the almond milk cuts some of the creaminess and flavor of the coconut milk. Makes sense I guess. I’m also not one to yuck on someone else’s yum. So whatever 🤷🏼♀️
ohkarlita2 points1y ago
I used to work at coffee bean and we had an almond coconut milk option. We eventually separated it into the two individual milks but still got people wanting the combination. My best guess is people who might be trying the same over here?
ProfessionalRock7940 [OP]1 points1y ago
That makes so much sense thank you! I had no clue lol
ohkarlita2 points1y ago
Off course :)
Gh0st_W6lker-7 points1y ago
Why not steam both?
ProfessionalRock7940 [OP]11 points1y ago
To do it to standard, the almond milk would be added cold like for a regular coffee
makmelaf17-3 points1y ago
I would have steamed both mills together cause that's what the ticket says
strawberry_sprite_7 points1y ago
that’s not what the ticket says though lmao, if it doesn’t say steamed under almond milk 1/2 then you don’t steam it... sounds like you’re not making drinks to standard my friend
