Work slow, don't let it get to you. Customers will get upset and then you tell them exactly who is responsible and where to send their complaints
Unicorn_Warrior124817 points1y ago
That’s exactly what I’m doing. You wanna cut labor. Fine. I’ll cut my labor also.

Pretty sure it’s to do with it being the end of the financial quarter and orders coming down from on high to cut labour to make their profit margin wider to get those fat bonuses and sell their stupid stocks.
Do not, under any circumstances, skip anyone’s breaks. It doesn’t matter if the queue is way back and blocking the road. Stay cheerful and repeat ‘corporate has decided we don’t need half our staff so I guess wait times have doubled! We’re doing all we can, sorry they aren’t prioritising you guys! Definitely complain to higher management, it was their decision’.
Keep the team happy, praise each other! Give people 5s when stress builds up. You aren’t being paid enough to rush or to stress. It’s not worth risking a burn.

I can’t upvote this enough. I almost never skip breaks unless my partners tell me if they stop they won’t be able to start back up again because we’re all that overworked and exhausted. It’s maddening that we’re being expected to do more with less.

its an anti union scare tactic n its gross.

Wait please explain
peachiez_5 points1y ago
they’re hoping to run out all the workers who want to unionize by cutting hours all across the board is my understanding. it’s v gross indeed.
medusas-garden7 points1y ago
I feel like if anything that would make people want to unionize even more

Not only is my store going through the same but we're scheduled to have a remodel in may as well as another store an hour away. There's only one other store within 45 minutes from us that both other locations could sub into. However due to labor cuts and not enough coverage hours available, many of us will not be working. And our DM said that we can't file for unemployment because we technically have another store to sub at.
Enough_Raise_71676 points1y ago
I would look further into the unemployment, I wouldn't trust my DM. And when our store was closed for a remodel, my DM said we could work at another store or file for unemployment. So it should be the same for you.
Upstairs_Raise74502 points1y ago
I'll look into it. The only other store I can work at is an hour away from me (I already drive a half hour to work).

With ASU it’s a 20 hour per week average over like 6 months to be eligible. A few down weeks generally shouldn’t make anyone lose eligibility unless they normally work exactly 20. If that is the case they need to talk to the SM.

They’ve cut the hours where I work too. My store does 80k a week in sales and the cut hours because the rest of the district was “losing money.” Okay, well a nearby store has like half of their store as shifts and are cafe only…. Maybe demote some of them??? They have more shifts than my store and my store does 10x the business. We are the only store in at least a 50 mi radius that has a drive thru, yet we have to suffer because other stores aren’t making sales? And most of those stores are paid more than us too. Maybe base the pay around the sales the stores make??? We’ve all been suffering at our store too. We havent been able to keep employees this past year. When I first started working for my store everyone had been there for a long while but since the work conditions have gone to shit everyone has left and there’s a handful of us left and most employees leave within a year.

This is why we need a union ✨
socalsailor0271 points1y ago
Idt a union would help with this because if business is low then it only makes sense to cut hours. Starbucks isn’t doing as well as expected and has to pay out Covid and other leaves, and is still expected to keep the same profit margins by the shareholders. Unions aren’t magical unicorns that solve all problems
crzyshiba1 points1y ago
Same here super hard but apparently they said it was cause a SM in our district messed up labor with non coverage vs coverage and since they messed it up we as a district need to cut hours to make up for it.. I’m like umm 🤔 ok
Karona241 points1y ago
I guess stores that are going union must have known this was going to happen
