Literally fucking same. These hour cuts are ridiculous.

Appropriate_Yam3050 10 points 1y ago
*Salutes* major bag
comrade_rj_ 51 points 1y ago
and the 5.5 hours so you don’t even get a 30 😁😁😁😁😁 love it here
samanthaway 7 points 1y ago
Which state are you in? Curious because in my state you get a 30 if you work 5hrs
comrade_rj_ 20 points 1y ago
lol florida, we have like no labor laws lol
mars_redacted [OP] 3 points 1y ago
yuuppp that’s how it is in New Mexico as well. shit sucks ass
ggoldensunsetss 50 points 1y ago
omg I thought I was bad 😀 but I cannot survive off of 18 hours a week in California
Glittering_737 29 points 1y ago
Same,I'm living of off partners asking me to take their shifts or managers calling me in for extra help. It's missarable.
always_hungryy 27 points 1y ago
You should look at your states labor laws. In some states there are a minimum hour’s requirement for employers. In my state there is a 20 hour minimum rule that employers have to give employees at least 20 hours a week, there are exceptions to that but it’s worth checking out in your state
SrirachaSauce5466 10 points 1y ago
No like legit, they’re telling the truth. Do you also have Starbucks benefits? Because if you do, you have to be able to work a certain amount of hours as well to keep them, and your store has to provide those hours.
persona-2 2 points 1y ago
Oh what states? I don’t think mine is one.
always_hungryy 2 points 1y ago
CA. There are lots of exception but basically if an employer has decided they need an employee they need to have at least 20 hours of work for that employee
thatazirafella 25 points 1y ago
Yeah, got my hours cut from 23.5 to 13.5. But manager assures everyone that we're not gonna see a big change, so don't worry! :)
Dramatic_Celery_2262 17 points 1y ago
I genuinely want to know is this a reoccurring thing or is this because of the unionizing?
overturned23 34 points 1y ago
Hour cuts always happen in the beginning of the year but not this bad, it’s a union busting tactic. Last year this time my hours were cut from 35 to 30, this year they have been cut from 34 to 22. It’s ridiculous
_circuts 16 points 1y ago
Wh-how is this a union busting tactic??? If anything I want to unionize more in hopes a conversation happens prior to these severe hour cuts... But what do I know? Obviously not much.
theLegendairy1 12 points 1y ago
Less hours = more likely to quit (instead of staying and unionizing/asking for better working conditions) and less time to talk to your coworkers about unionizing
_circuts 2 points 1y ago
Ah that makes sense
Dramatic_Celery_2262 5 points 1y ago
Thank you for the clarification!

I have 0 hours this week because of an issue with Sedgwick. When I’m active again (which they keep delaying) I can try to take shifts from others but who is going to give up their few hours?? And even when I can have my schedule again I get what, 18 a week if I’m lucky?

I took this job because I needed one and needed a break from healthcare and I truly love it. I want to keep working at coffeeshops but others don’t pay as well. But I literally can’t afford to work here anymore. Which breaks my heart because again, I actually really love this job, I love my regulars and coffee and especially making drinks for kids. It’s just not really feasible for me.
CardiographicDuck 8 points 1y ago
I’ve had to, as well. It’s funny that one of the perks of Starbucks is the pay when you’d literally get more making $9 an hour somewhere else because at least you’d get hours
Fozzybean 8 points 1y ago
Ask your SM to borrow you to every store in your district so you can see all unfilled shifts.
XX_Jxnior 7 points 1y ago
Wanna cover my shift in Thursday and Saturday?
mars_redacted [OP] 5 points 1y ago
hell yeah dude hand it over
XX_Jxnior 1 points 1y ago
On*
ShannyES 5 points 1y ago
Looks like my schedule and this is my second job.

They’re gonna fuck around and find out though that I may actually enjoy one day a week and find supplemental hours elsewhere for more money anyway. So 🤷🏼‍♀️

3.5 years is a pretty solid run anyway.
ViAmplify 2 points 1y ago
we closed 40 minutes late because of the cuts, because we were understaffed most of the day 😃
Puzzled-Muffin-39 2 points 1y ago
I get 12 hours a week sometimes 18 if I’m lucky but only because I get scheduled outside my availability and I end up taking it because I have to pay the bills and it’s not fair for me to have to sacrifice that just to afford to live 😭
greenChainsaws 2 points 1y ago
damn and i thought i had it bad with 7.5 hours for the week
TarantulaTeeth13 2 points 1y ago
Call around to other stores and see if anyone needs shifts covered. I went to the stores I could easily get to and left my information with the SM and it has helped when I needed it in the past.
gilbasrevenge 1 points 1y ago
Question I live on a state border so if I do this should I stick to the stores in my home state or can I cross the line lol
TarantulaTeeth13 1 points 1y ago
I would say it depends on which state. I live in Nevada on the border of California and with the different tax and no tax stuff, I tend to not even look in California. But if you stay under a certain amount of hours per year then it shouldn’t be an issue?
maddawgg710 2 points 1y ago
I’m thankful to even be getting 23-27 hours 😭
luckycat444 2 points 1y ago
Hi c: what app is this??
RedKamo 2 points 1y ago
SBUXPartnerHrs
maddawgg710 1 points 1y ago
I believe this app is when I work. But some places use a different app to post the schedule on
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago
wow, i thought my 24-29 hrs was awful 😬
drowninginristretto 1 points 1y ago
ULP!!
This is why we organise!
Lamlot 1 points 1y ago
Check out manufacturing jobs they pay well and Starbucks can be a good lead in for it. I did it and make 7 an hour more.
ScoutPrincessRini 1 points 1y ago
Hugs to you and the other Starbucks works.
Minute-General-2090 1 points 1y ago
same here lol and I don't even work at a corporate place 💀
Electrical_Metal_106 1 points 1y ago
You can file for supplemental unemployment. Look up what your state offers. Supposedly we’re getting hours back in April. We will see.
marvelmanda 1 points 1y ago
I do doordash as my second job.
gingerpirate14 1 points 1y ago
This was a corporate thing. My SM said that he had to cut labor like crazy for the month of March. He even had to cut his own amount of admin hours to make up for the floor coverage for both himself and the ASM. Hopefully it should level out in April.
Meggilli91 1 points 1y ago
Pimp yourself out to all the other stores in your area. You may have some luck grabbing random shifts
AdamAce3 1 points 1y ago
I’m down to 8 hrs a week 😭
Merced_x 1 points 1y ago
went from 32 down to about 20/22 as an SSV
