Make sure your baristas are checked in.

In my district, lots of SSVs and even SMs have been fired for this, which is ridiculous imo. If possible, put yourself in the CS role so that way you can flex out of the play really quick to get that person checked in. Also, talk to your baristas, be vulnerable with them, and clearly communicate what you expect from them when they come onto the shift.
Also, tell your manager when they’re coming in late constantly because that adds stress to you and your baristas will keep coming in late unless there is a consequence to their actions!

This seems like an extreme thing to be threatening someone with. I’m sorry about that nasty response, OP. Given that many places aren’t even requiring masks anymore, I think you’re doing just fine. I used to work the opening shift and they’re hectic enough. Factor in people showing up late and calling off, and it can be hard to remember this. I consider myself very COVID conscious and I even forget to write it in the book sometimes! We’re all human, and you’re even busier than some. Don’t beat yourself up. I would set a reminder on your phone to check in with the people who are coming in late at the end of your morning rush, just to ensure that you are checking. Don’t worry too much! Just try to figure out a better routine to follow, and it’ll iron itself out!

Of all the things I see about people on here have issues with, this is the one I don’t feel bad for. Do your job.
