Hour Cuts and bs (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by marvelmanda
So we all know about the hour cuts. (I went from 27+ to 14 🙃) Anyways on Sunday we were so short staffed. Literally whole store closed so I told my manager that I get off at 5 but I can stay later if you want me to so I can help. He said I would let you stay but then I would have to send you on a lunch so I can’t let you stay. I got really mad about that because seriously you have 3 people to close with you and thats not enough. So is this normal for him to LITERALLY turn away help. Same thing today. We were so short staffed I solo boxed most of the day. I’m just so frustrated with these hour cuts and then not giving hours to people willing to stay without being asked.

The new standard is constant struggle. All partners will be overworked and simultaneously screwed on hours. It’s legit crazy.

It’s not your job to be worried about labor! The same thing happened at my store and when I tell you we had no one to run lunches because then it would’ve been a two part with mobiles coming in non stop and everyone ordering 4+ drinks in drive and people constantly coming inside also ordering 4+ drinks with one person on bar and one on drive. My coworker that left just ended up coming back two hours later because our point of contact wasn’t answering. She came back just to catch us up on dishes and backups it was terrible we didn’t even get our last 10s 😭

Nah. Take those 10s. Take the lunches. Do your thing. They don't want to staff it? Guess wait time will be 30 minutes for a damn coffee. I know it's hard to manage in the moment with folks yelling at you for your drink. Just tell them the truth - there should be x staff here and The Siren has demanded we only work with y. I'll get you your drink when the ticket comes out.
