same ish is happening at my store seriously so frustrating most of us are scheduled 5.75 so we dont get appropriate breaks 🙃
pinkflowergirl435 points1y ago
I noticed this was happening to me too! Why are they making it so we don't get breaks? I get really crabby working shifts where is basically 6 hours and only a measly 10 min break
overturned2330 points1y ago
they don’t have enough coverage to cover breaks. doesn’t make it right but that’s the answer
xylophonezygote [OP]14 points1y ago
So fucking schedule more people 🙃

i wish 😒 but my manager is being told to cut labor
kqs137 points1y ago
It isn't the managers fault though, they will get in trouble for giving more hours. My manager is literally getting punished for scheduling TO labor. Not over labor, but to actual forecasted labor, and she's getting asked to cut still. And it wasn't even our store's fault, other stores in our district were over on labor, and all the stores had to cut, even though it wasn't our fault. So unfortunately it's a company wide thing and the managers literally can't give us more hours right now 😕

Ever since I finished training in early December I have only ever been scheduled 5.75 or less.
AstroBomber12213 points1y ago
they literally admitted it to me just nonchalantly that they schedule us for 5.75 so they don't have to give us a break 👍
EliMinivan2 points1y ago
I work at a Safeway licensed store. I do mostly closing shifts from 230 to 815pm, they give me 5.75 hour shifts so they don't have to schedule someone to cover my lunch (closers work alone for their entire shift)

I haven’t gotten anything less than 30 in 6 months. Next week I have 18.5,,,,,, including a 2 hour day 🤩
canidieyet_29 points1y ago
i would be HEATED if i had a 2 hour day. my commute alone is an hour.
[deleted]14 points1y ago
Yeah I am ://// I’m def going to call out if I can’t work longer that day,,,, it’s literally for clean play too,,,, 9-11???? Nahhh
littleedge6 points1y ago
Your commute is an *hour* long? That’s okay if you’re making $70k+ but golly.
canidieyet_2 points1y ago
yep. every store in my area is toxic AF and nowhere else is paying higher than $14/hr (besides target but they won’t actually hire anyone) 🙃
far_outtahere11 points1y ago
Wait you guys are getting hours?
Flimsy_Opportunity877 points1y ago
Same for me but I’m out. Not playing with these people. Say bye to talent. I hope they spend years trying to recover brand image but I’m not providing McD drive thru experience for Sbux beverages - signed an experienced barista
PaleontologistLoud377 points1y ago
every gd shift i've had for the last ~2 months has been 5.50 or less and everyone at my store's hours are like that too
Organic-Bluejay-696 points1y ago
thats literally me rn too :’)
zed2eh4 points1y ago
This seems so weird to me, my store will not schedule anyone less than 4 hour shift. At four hours we get a 15, at 5 hours we get a 15 and a half, and at 7 hours we get two 15s and a half. Only the halves are unpaid.

Idk what I am going to do like I am searching for other jobs but it’s just waitressing jobs in my area. Which I’ll take but like damn I am tired. State Farm & Capital One gonna come and break my knees with a bat next month I stg
No____facex2 points1y ago
If you can serve, do it. From experiencing serving or delivering pizza has been the absolute quickest way for me to make a decent amount of cash within a couple of days. Good luck on your job search homie.

Y'all's need to unionize
Short-Suit-33742 points1y ago
Punishment for unionized stores?

Next week I'm working 315 to 830 four out of 5 of my shifts. No breaks. And a fraction of my normal schedule.
