Today i got close to passing out(self.starbucksbaristas)

so with everyone going on hours being cut, our schedule amount of people was at 6. normally we run 9-11 people. as we are pretty busy having to get my espresso, cups, milk. on top of making drinks, handing off so customers aren’t mad. i just got overwhelmed but couldn’t stop.
stickers would come out in bunches of 10 and i’d put it on a cup just for it to do it again. constantly doing that to avoid losing more stickers or having it pile. being told where’s my coffee and being stared at was hard. i’m epileptic and toward the end of my shift about 45 min out i had to slow because i could feel a seizure coming on. the amount of stress going through me while working FRANTICALLY, with no chance to get water.
to top it all off. per usual only a ten minute break. today burnt me bad. and now i don’t know how to feel about this company. asked to go home early through text for a later shift. and only 23 hours scheduled. and i’m a lucky one…

may i suggest applying for workplace accommodations? I have diabetes and I have never needed accomodations- that is, until starbucks decided we could totally run a floor with like three people… now I get to take an extra break as needed to ✨not die✨. your health is important. more important than anything

How do you apply for this type of accommodation?

fill $1 . Someone will contact you. I got a really generic note from my doctor (it was like “I have a condition and I need xyz” and they just approved me like that. Then they’ll let ur SM know

I know it's hard during these cut hours, but I personally never ever put my health second. Your health is more important than money and customer connection scores. I'm sorry that this happened to you. You should talk to your SM. Health scares will usually get their attention, see if they can do anything to help you (to the best of their ability given everything that's going on)

i have talked to her before. she knows i’m epileptic as does everyone around me. but with having such a small amount of people lately and how many orders coming through it just really hit me towards the end. and if this keeps up i cant

Don’t stay quiet, no matter what. Either they will need to schedule more people, deal with a slightly shorter floor during your break, or deal without you entirely if you choose to leave.

trust me. that’s what i usually do. but it kept pouring out to the point that it was touching the floor. and if i didn’t pull them the partners did. i pulled ten at a time and kept repeating so it wouldn’t do that. usually we get up to four at once maybe. but recently it’s gotta so bad. id stick em on the counter but it slips off and then i can’t put it on a cup so i was flustered

Wait, do you have the sticker printers that print continuously instead of one at a time? I thought Starbucks got rid of those.

You can only make drinks so fast. Customers come second. If they ask where their drink is, tell them to look at the lineup. Not getting flustered is tough, but just set your own pace and let the customer wait. It’s on them for coming in during a rush.
