You have to dial it in so i find it unfeasible. You generally want your own grinder. 1zpresso is a good hand grinding option if you're not down to spend hundreds of dollars on a motor grinder. It also depends if you're using a pressurized portafilter. If that's the case, it doesn't really matter too much and the crema you yield won't be a genuine one. But our beans have a best by date and God knows when they were roasted so they are mostly stale. I have a df64 personally speaking. I stopped grinding my beans at Starbucks. It just didn't work for me lol. And it would take too long for the dial in process if you don't have a grinder and you're changing grind settings only weekly. I hope this makes sense.

i appreciate it. as i stated in the title i use a non pressurized port a filter. i know starbucks beans aren’t the best and that grinding beans at home is more ideal than having them ground all at once for a lot of reasons. unfortunately dialing in my espresso isn’t really a priority of mine but i was mostly hoping to understand what the fine grind setting is usually used/intended for since there’s another grind specifically called espresso

I tried espresso grind settings with the espresso beans. It didn't work for my machine. It was a bit too coarse for that bag of beans particularly speaking for my particular setup. Every batch of beans needs to be dialed in. It depends if you want to do it correctly which seems to be the goal to a degree since you're using a Non pressurized basket. But grinding them at Starbucks is generally going to be the same experience as getting preground coffee from a grocery store or something. I personally would recommend a pressurized basket if that's what you're working with. In all honesty, there are too many variables to make it work. Your set up, which beans you are going to be using, etc. It's best to fiddle with one variable at a time. So if you do want to do it this way, I'd keep all other variables the same except the grind size and work from there weekly and see how it goes.
