What is your local laws on hair coverings? I wear a silk lined beanie at work, literally just a beanie that I've lined with silk. I don't personally wear a headscarf, but some in the color palette would likely fit the bill and also be more protective for your hair considering the volume.

Have you tried a visor? It's what a lot of our partners wear. Although I haven't seen any with an afro so idk if that's valid

Look under your state law to see what’s required.
My manager told me if I wanted to wear a visor (so my hair could be more manageable for me), I had to wear a hair net with it (and made no move to compensate me for one) even though the law didn’t require it (he literally just didn’t like visors)

They recently made backless caps dress code acceptable, maybe one of those would work
