The reason I was told and have read through different forums is that the company will not be returning the condiment bar regardless of Covid protocols because it encourages customer connection. When customers ask for sugars, additional cream/milk, straws, etc it is a way for us to engage with them.

another reason (which i’m led to believe is the main reason) is it saves the company money, people would grab lots of cream and sugars(more than is built into the cost of the drinks). it also takes longer to refill the condiment bar and clean it than it does to pass out a little cup of cream or a few sugars

My new Target manager put the sweeteners on the condiment bar. I wasn't about to tell her Starbucks doesn't allow them to be there. I never once considered making a cream carafe though. Its shelf life is one hour, what's the point? Anyone who wanted cream got some in a sample cup.

My manager told me it reduces waste by not putting it out there. But i hate it for one reason. Cuz ill be in the middle of a huuuge rush and my drink sequencing will be thrown off cuz people will be asking for sugars at the handoff area whether they ordered in person or mobile. Then they ask for extra cream or extra almond milk etc and it just slows me down. Alot of people at my store that order in person never say if they want any sugars or cream while theyre ordering at the register. These are regulars that kno we dont have our shit out. But sometimes i wont notice em ordering at register so i cant prep their sugars or cream cuz ill be too busy makin drinks

Im not for or against getting rid of the cream carafes on condiment bar but i think sugars should go out there. The number of times we get stopped on bar during rush and peak times for sugars/sweetener packets is insane. Straws are out for customers to grab at my store. I feel like sugars atleast should be too

It's cheaper for the company a lot of customers try to cheat the system and order 2 shots over ice and fill it up with milk or cream and will completely clear out our sugars especially the sugar in the raw and it drives up cost
