Dress coded for shoes??? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Cultural_Spinach_175
I got hired 5 months ago and I’ve been wearing my black non slip crocs with dark blue lightning bolts since the start and just now they are out of dress code. But no one looks at our feet anyway? Anyone know why?

My manager scolded me for wearing my black nonslip sketchers to work the other day. I thought the shoes only had to cover the toes and be black but apparently they need to be a “waterproof material like leather” I was like.. seriously I’m out of dress code!? Every day I wear blue jeans, a Starbucks official shirt, black socks, my black nonslip shoes, my green apron with name tag, and have my pens and sharpies. I’m ALWAYS prepared and in code but apparently not 🤦🏻‍♀️ most of the people at Starbucks has chucks or something definitely out of code anyway but I thought I was clear. These shoes cost 90 bucks and I bought them specifically for Starbucks. I’m probably just going to keep wearing them but apparently they’re really cracking down on the dress code.

That’s so dumb!! My coworkers wear converse too and slip and spill stuff but our non slips are out of dress code. I think I’m gonna keep wearing mine too and see what happens cuz mine were pricy too and just for sbux. They said I have two weeks to get new ones and tbh I think it’s so stupid and I don’t wanna get new ones.

Mine are like a mesh material and I guess it’s the material they have an issue with because the color is right. Starbucks actually doesn’t enforce nonslip which is surprising considering how much I’d slip before getting these shoes. I can go back to the sketchers store to buy a pair that IS leather but it means forking out another 60-100 dollars on the shoes (I actually asked to get them as a Christmas present because I was hesitant to splurge on them 🤣). I had to get good insoles in them too so that added on cost. I’ve never been out of dress code before but it’s really odd to be called out on simple nonslip work shoes for being the wrong material.

Yeah mesh is a big no-no. I’ve heard horror stories of hot milk falling through the mesh and the material melting and fusing to peoples socks and skin. Same with leggings, in theory

Edit: for shock value and clarity
