Hang on. As far as I'm aware, none of the stores that have unionized have a final contract yet -- they're still in negotiation. Where is this "median" coming from?
slamy42016 points1y ago
Im wondering that too, it might be referring to an estimation- wages tend to go up post unionization
StormTheParade3 points1y ago
This is what this is referencing. A general union statistic/average lol

Hmmm… yep seems a little misleading
healthypenguins2 points1y ago
I think someone took the correlation of stores attempting to unionize with the fact people got raises. But literally zero stores in DFW (that I know of) are attempting to unionize and the baristas in my district have already been raised to $15/hr. We have a lot of people running around out here without the facts on most of this stuff.

Question, did the baristas in your district get raised to 15/hr as part of the national barista raise coming this summer? Curious because my district minimum is still 10/hr and I'm wondering when our district will be affected.
healthypenguins1 points1y ago
Yea, some districts received that raise early because we weren't up to the cost of living. But everyone should have been raised to at least $12/hr back in October. So I would definitely check into that if you're at a corporate (US) store and only making 10.
Alarming-Emphasis9051 points1y ago
Ah well I work in Texas and minimum is 7hr so I think we did get that jump in October. I will report back and let you know when we get the raise and see what it will actually pan out to be

Corporate is probably big mad at us for this lol. I’m on five hours this week.

>I’m on five hours this week.
Constructive dismal as retaliation for wanting to join a union is both illegal & heinous.
I am sorry this is happening to you friend. Document this, it will protect you. Stay strong.
OneRoseDark7 points1y ago
That's............. not what's happening? Hours have been reduced for everyone across the country regardless of their opinions on unions? Are you new here?
Jack-Arthur1 points1y ago
They're allegedly doing it to save for union lawyers; lord knows our stores are busy enough to support it, and they certainly were busy enough over Christmas.

How long have you been a barista? There are always labor cuts in Q2. It's our slowest season and they want to manipulate data for the shareholder meeting.
