scammer keeps coming in the cafe to use other peoples gift cards? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by bigtittym1lf
we have a regular named “felix” (likely not real name) who comes in ever day without fail, sometimes twice a day, usually in the mornings or right before close. he uses a third party gift card/digital wallet app which is totally legit (we have customers other than him use it too) but everytime he scans, its a random person’s name on the order ticket. i dont know HOW hes doing this, but every single time he orders our store gets a call from everywhere across the country; illinois, california, new jersey.. were in FLORIDA. the people that call say that they just received a receipt for our starbucks location. super fucking weird, im so curious to know how hes pulling this off. we recently told him that from now on we dont accept this app (lie), and now ive seen him significantly less. however, today when a mobile order for “jennifer” came in, you can imagine my frustration when he came in and said it was his😭. my shift filed a report already, but how should we confront him if this happens again

Just tell him he’s not allowed there anymore

how would we control the mobile orders then😭😭

I would talk to your SM about this, but my first instinct would be to stop handing over the mobile order. It sucks because usually it’s already made, I know, and the waste is cringeworthy, but that’s the only sure fire way to make him stop. Tell him to call the corporate number if he has an issue. I would also go as far to reach out to a few of your surrounding stores that might be getting the same guy, and fill in those SM’s on the details.

You should try to actually write an incident report. That’s how you get them banned or noticed by corporate.

Call the police and report him but have the SM or DM do it. Using other people's Starbucks cards without their permission is fraud.

That's sounds like an SM problem. He's scamming somehow. The DM needs to get involved and let other stores in the area know as well. That's above you're pay grade

Bout controlling mobile orders, just don’t give him the drink and refund Jennifer’s account.

If he wasn’t directly stealing from people I wouldn’t care but wow I really do wonder how he does that
