Someone got water with matcha powder added today. I charged her for a custom tea. She paid like five dollars ish. I would charge this order as a custom tea as well. It's standard now anyway. Charge them. It may discourage this behavior.

i disagree only because matcha is a component we charge for, while whip and ice are both free

It's been a few months since I've worked for the bucks, but iirc it was ANY added drink component to water/ice makes it a custom iced tea not just the paid ones.

water, by standard, is a non customizable drink (with the exceptions of no/light/extra ice). it’s important to ring items in correctly because our POS sales directly correlate to our stores’ labor allowances.

yeah but so is everything else though right? Like if we're getting six orders of venti cups of water, 4 scoops of matcha, extra caramel drizzle, whip cream top and bottom, vanilla bean powder etc etc added. Would we just charge them for just these components? No. That's a drink right there. Where does it begin and where does it end? It begins when they order a cup of water with shit in it other than h2O. Because to me, that's what a tea is: water with shit added to it. And it ends when they pay full price.

as i pointed out, matcha is a component we charge for and therefore using it in a drink makes that a custom drink. I don't feel the same way about whip cream because i can give you a pup cup for free. i wouldn't give you 2 scoops of matcha in a cup for free. if i can ring out and hand you a component for $0, then i shouldn't charge you $5 for putting that component in your free water.
you feel me? that is the line.
Noobplzforgive9 points1y ago
Well the standard is adding things to water now has to be charged as a custom tea regardless of if the addon is free or a component that can be charged additionally on a different drink.

Someone just did this at my store too. Is that what we’re supposed to do?? The person who rang her up had it totaled under a dollar
Noobplzforgive4 points1y ago
Yeah it was in the weekly update some time ago.

Unless this is for a dog...absolutely not 🥲🥲

have yall ever thought some people just want some extra whip and extra ice for when they get lower in their drink? whats the crime here?
changbinsomnia [OP]6 points1y ago
cause in my mind.. it would make more sense for the whip to go on too but even at that- they could get a cup of ice and a separate cup of whip. with what they got,, i just think the ice is gonna melt into the whip and make it all watery. i mean idc what customers get. its just some requests are a little.. odd
Vauxiliatrix2 points1y ago
i would totally order this as a former barista because i understand what ratios i liked, so its like the least odd request to post imo, plus i dont want 3 cups lol, its so easy to just dump the remaining drink into the whippe/ice cup
sailingsky1 points1y ago
ikr i think i would get this with a no ice latte 😂
Vauxiliatrix1 points1y ago
dude totally it just makes the lattes taste so good w no ice so this is PERF

I feel like in the aim of discouraging plastic waste it is best to charge as much as possible for this nonsense
Vauxiliatrix1 points1y ago
thats silly whats one cup going to do vs starbucks actual plastic waste on a daily store by store basis
dbldrm3 points1y ago
With that logic, nothing matters at all. Ever. Haha. But trust me i feel u 😂
