aside from shaken espressos and cold brews, i find bar infinitely easier than dto. i am not a mind reader and 90% of customers need one. it takes a lot of time to learn, and it doesnt help that they mess with the POS layout regularly. im at least 5 months in and still learning.
no, the reason to leave is that corporate treats us like shit.

Hey! So for training I hard core studied flash cards there’s some sets on quizlet you can use and write out of the Starbucks app has all of the specifications to each drink so you could totally use that to your advantage! Writing out recipes for each drink is so beyond helpful! Also look up “Starbucks cheat sheets” on google images you will find some cheat sheets with like shots, scoops and pumps specifications! That’s what i did I’ve been there about a month and a half and am pretty confident on everything at this point i just need to pick up my speed!

If you don't like bar than talk to your shift supervisors about being support or register until you feel more comfortable. The position needs to be filled anyways and there's no sense in stressing and being overwhelmed if you can help it.
If it takes you an extra minute to find where buttons are on the POS don't worry. Not everyone is good at every position, I have an employee who has been with the company for 7 years and will not go on bar but is great with customers.
Play to your strengths and do your best. :)

hey! i remember feeling the exact same way when i first started. you are NOT a bother, if anything i bet your coworkers just feel bad that you have to deal with the whole being-new-in-training process because we’ve all been through it and it sucks. if you’re looking to learn quicker, i recommend using quizlets!! i could send you some links if you’d like. but ultimately with bar, it’s just a matter of practice. if you feel comfortable, you can ask your shift for some bar time when it’s slow to practice. and with the pos, it’s almost 100% just muscle memory with learning where the buttons are and stuff. it’ll come with time :) i recommend giving yourself some time, it’s truly the key to getting better. if maybe 2 months go by and you still feel like you haven’t picked anything up, then maybe it just isn’t for you and that’s perfectly fine!! i’m sure you’re doing great but i’m sorry you’re feeling this way. i remember how overwhelming it was at first. it gets better!

this one is really good. it’s a little old though so a few things have changed: iced teas no longer get classic unless requested, if your store has a keg you don’t need to dilute the cold brew, and some of these drinks just don’t exist anymore lol $1

I started in September and I’m just now feeling good about my work

truly, if you’re at 2 weeks and still this concerned, it’s not worth it. you’ll work so much harder at this job than at other jobs with similar pay and benefits. it’s not worth the stress and there are better things out there for you (:

My rule of thumb for prospective baristas is if you are planning on using all the benefits, especially the college program, then Starbucks might be worth it. But if not, don’t bother. You’ll work harder for the same pay or worse than other jobs of this kind.
