If I get scheduled outside my availability I don’t have to go right? Like I tell them they scheduled me incorrectly and it becomes their issue?

If your SM is decent they will just fix it. If not it still is your responsibility to get it covered. If you don’t show up you can get in trouble.

yeah, let them know

Unfortunately, Starbucks policy DOES allow managers to schedule baristas outside of their availability, though none of the normal-human-being-managers I know do so (because duh).
Definitely talk to your manager--they may have done it on accident and be able to help--but they are technically allowed to hold you accountable for the shift, which is dumb.

I called them out on it, they tried to say I have find coverage and I said I won’t because I have school and that is why I have an availability. So they backed off

Hopefully they aren’t a jerk and it was was an accident and they’ll change it for you.

Yea tell a shift lead or your manager they will fix it, better to do it as soon as you see it instead of waiting so they can get it covered

Our availability is unfortunately "preferred" availability and not guaranteed. Most managers won't schedule you outside of that unless they're short on partners for that shift. (For example, if too many people requested a certain day off)
Communicate immediately once you see that on a schedule, and see what your SM says. Typically either you or they will try to find coverage or potentially have you swap shifts with someone.
Our mission is to provide everyone with access to large- scale community websites for the good of humanity. Without ads, without tracking, without greed.
