Try not to be too formal about it I guess? Starbucks loves personality and I’ve seen people get the job but be referred to different stores because their personality would fit better there, which isn’t a bad thing I think that makes for a better experience for everyone. But definitely don’t be afraid to be and talk about yourself. Also as mentioned by others, have scenarios in your mind of times you’ve showed leadership skills or responsibility or problems solving in the workplace because they will definitely ask about that and it’s so hard to come up with an answer you’ll be satisfied with on the spot. Lastly, and this applies going forward with the job, try not to be discouraged or put off by a lot of the negativity you see and hear… every store is different and has their own issues but it’s really not as bad across the board as hearing those things can make you feel. I’ve been with the company for years, been a shift supervisor for years, dealt with the strictest and most awful managers and district managers, but also managers who have been and still are some of my favorite people i’ve ever met, as well as partners and even customers who have made an incredible impact on my life. I’ve done my fair share of complaining about my job, and sure there genuinely are problems and issues that go so far up the corporate hierarchy that they’re out of anyones control here, but it’s still something i’ve grown to be incredibly grateful for and passionate about. stumbling into this community expecting it to be nothing but a summer job has been one of the greatest blessings in disguise for me and it may be for you too, so be excited and go into it all with a positive mind.

also, why do you want to work there? Your personality is also a factor in your hire. Will you mesh with everyone, can you handle stressful situations

Be able to give examples of a time where you were able to sort out or diffuse a conflict or able to solve a problem. If you can, it can even be something within your own family. Maybe a time where you were able to be confident and lead in a role. I definitely played up how serving someone their drink is an easy way to make their day.

My interview was pretty casual. They’ll probably want to know if you have any previous customer service experience. I would read or watch a video about the “third place” that Starbucks promotes. I’d say emphasize your customer service abilities, ability to work under pressure, and readiness to learn a lot of information. Don’t be scared!! And good luck starting! You’ll have a training day of iPad/computer work that’s really informative.

I second this advice. Stress how you want to provide the customer with the best moment, connecting with them on a deep level by remembering their usual order, kids’ names and personalities, breed of pet, and favorite vacation spot all while multitasking to deliver their six modification-heavy drinks in less than 60 seconds flat and then responding to their “oh, I’m sorry, I meant to order that iced” with a smile as you produce the iced version with a Benihana shrimp in the chef hat flourish. This is obviously snarky and somewhat exaggerated but this is essentially what Sbux is looking for, personal customer service connection with fast food turn around times.
