I’m curious on how many people actually do H HOP. I keep getting asked to do it but I don’t want to do it because the idea of doing it give me anxiety.

“HHOP is when a partner is outside taking drive thru orders on the ipad which acts as a portable POS basically minus the ability to handle payments, so the need for DTO is eliminated.”

It’s not done on the iPad they sent a tablet to some stores specifically for the purpose of taking orders outside or while on oven. It’s nothing to be nervous about it’s essentially the same as taking someone’s order at the register.

Honestly I like the fresh air, plus customers tend to be nicer because they're cowards that can't be mean face to face lmao. Plus I can hear them better than over the headset so less frustration in general. It's intimidating at first but really easy tbh. Just take care in "directing" traffic so that people don't get upset. It might not be an issue anyways depending on your outside layout. Best if luck.

At my old store we were given the handheld about a month before it closed. We never actually used it though (despite getting shit on by the DM) because our order screen is behind the building, with a camera that doesn’t work. That store is in a high crime area and the store was primarily women, POC and LGBT partners. We also had a history of violent customers. It was a unanimous vote that we were uncomfortable with being outside, the only way to get in the building is to circle back around completely.
My new store doesn’t have it (yet) and I hope we never do. It’s in a very safe area, but we have SEVERAL customers that have gotten violent towards not only us, but other customers as well. Angry person who has tried to come behind the counter at us in a car??? Yeah no fucking thanks. We’re working on getting them banned.

I do it every once in awhile when the line outside gets really long!! I don’t mind it for the most part, it’s just a more active DTO in my opinion and you don’t have to expedite! The only issue I have with it is that I haven’t figured out a way to hold the tablet without my wrist aching for the next couple days after :/

We use it every single day during peak. Manager makes ssv appoint someone to do handheld outside to help drive times.
We get reprimanded if we do not

Our store has the capability, but I believe it was very short lived that we actually used it. It more often than not gets used by like a shift in the back doing their pull/count trying to help DTO get an order. I also don’t frequently enough work shifts where it even makes sense to use anymore. But even when I did, it was never used while I worked at all.
BatWeary2 points1y ago
yeah we already don’t have the staff to run a shift like normal. how do they think giving us ANOTHER position (especially one where the person can’t run to help out?!) is going to be a good thing
