I wrote most of my store (people i liked-around 25) full cards with envelopes when I left (I had seen other people at my store give them out when they left) because even though I only got a couple texts from people saying thanks for the card and whatever, I still think it's valuable because it probably makes them more likely to be your references, and if you ever see them again they'll probably think of you highly. It's just a classy move that shows character I think. The world is small and you never know who you'll see again or if your paths will cross again.

i wrote everyone cards, even the people i rarely ever got to work with! everyone at my store really made me feel comfortable whereas my job before this one i felt so alone and isolated. I would’ve done bigger cards and envelopes but i’m a broke bish so i have to settle with shortening my goodbyes on these tiny little cards 😭 i wanted to make sure everyone felt included bc even if i didn’t work much with them, they were still fun to be around. I have a card left over bc one of our partners’ last day was yesterday so she wont be able to see it but i was close with her so i could just text her! i’m definitely gonna cry on my last shift that’s for sure😂

That’s usually the case, but it sounds like this particular partner was lucky and had a store that was actually nice.
