This was in drive thru a couple of days ago. Ended up being $136 and some change. She held up the line for at least five minutes just ordering. (i.redd.it)

Blue-Sky1325 38 points 1y ago
Out of everything in that order that’s the first thing I noticed 😭
abigail3087 3 points 1y ago
i honestly would have asked if she was okay with black tea just to get things moving faster
blo0ming 124 points 1y ago
Bruh I would’ve made her come in.
Animuthrowawayplz [OP] 67 points 1y ago
We had her park and someone brought it out to her. I've been told to do that after the last person I asked to come in started giving me shit and a shift had to cut in on the headset.
Fearless_While_9824 46 points 1y ago
Looking at this order screams field trip. With the hot/iced beverages and a strong presence of frappes, looks like students and chaperones ordering breakfast and lunch food and back up drinks. Or extra car snacks. These type of orders = so many questions.

Came here to say this
Js_On_My_Yeet 52 points 1y ago
This should not be allowed. Like legit how does corporate expect us to deal with the customer after this?
badatlife15 10 points 1y ago
We once had someone order I think it was 16 drinks, the person behind her had one refresher. We told the person with the crazy amount of drinks to go park and then I was at the window so I made the next drink while the people on bar finished the others. But the lady behind her was like did she have 16 drinks?!?!? It’s crazy

And I thought my drive thru monitor was old
Animuthrowawayplz [OP] 10 points 1y ago
Our last remodel, according to people that have been here longer than me, was seven years ago and I don't think it was even a proper remodel. So a lot of our stuff is old.
pastelldillann 14 points 1y ago
man i know that fucked your drive time too
11corkie11 22 points 1y ago
I think it even fucked mine up just for good measure
Jena876543 11 points 1y ago
Why can we limit how many Separate orders in one car someone gets but not how many they get on one order
Animuthrowawayplz [OP] 9 points 1y ago
Oh we don't limit that either at my store. Drive thru people get to do whatever.
mama_bibi 8 points 1y ago
See now I'll say it once again...there should be rules for drive through ordering. Like no reloads in drive, limit on how many items you can order, no travelers.

I had a customer come through drive and she started to say she had a big order and then she was like ya know what, let me come inside. It was a lot. I can't remember but it was like 13 drinks and a bunch of food and it was like 180 something.
^ she ^ had common sense and decency.

Like this is just plain ridiculous to order in drive through
Animuthrowawayplz [OP] 3 points 1y ago
We have a lady that consistently prders 7-12 drinks in the drive thru almost every weekday. I haven't seen her around in a bit, but it was always a pain and she wouldn't pull around to the front for us to bring it out to her. Always messed up our flow. And then she would always separate the order at the window and pay for a couple if things on a second tab.

> no reloads in drive

Reloads are fast if you know how to do it in 1 transaction. I can get a reload done faster than you can shake an espresso :P

Just wrote up how to do it recently$1:

1. Press Misc -> Reload Card
2. Type in the amount the person wants to reload (ex: $10)
3. Scan GC/App
4. Press the total amount button to go back to the tender screen
5. Type in the amount you put on the relaod (ex: $10)
6. Press the button for how they are going to pay for reload - Cash/Credit.

* Cash: You'll have to "hold" the cash for a moment (seems strange to hold it, but the cash automatically goes directly to the reload even before you put it in the till)
* Credit: The credit payment device will show the **reload total you just typed in**, not the total for the entire transaction now, tap/swipe card now
* at this point the reload money has already gone on to their app/GC!

8. Scan the GC/App again for the payment portion as it will have the new total on it
9. Till opens up for Cash
10. Receipt auto prints, 2x check the receipt to make sure it reloaded correctly and hand to customer

I can definitely do a sale with a reload faster than I can do a regular single sale with cash (and counting/handing out change). It's pretty quick once you get it locked in muscle memory.
mama_bibi 2 points 1y ago
Yea I know you can do it in one transaction im just saying principle wise like drive through shouldn't be a one stop shop for the customers. Like it should specifically be for quick orders if they want us to have "good times"

I personally don't care about times but if they do then they shouldn't cater to spoiled brats at all times. There should just be some grounds rules if they want it to be oh so fast
katebullet25 5 points 1y ago
There’s no way we would have let this happen in our drive thru we would have asked them to come in for sure. We also didn’t do iced London fogs in drive thru.
Shetlips420 5 points 1y ago
off topic but i’ve been getting a lot of people ordering an iced grtl with 3 pumps of chai, is it that good?
Animuthrowawayplz [OP] 5 points 1y ago
I don't like it, but it's also a thing to add a shot to it too.
xoMisaa 1 points 1y ago
i heard adding a shot but not the chai was good! my boyfriend tried it the other day and he doesn’t really drink matcha but he said it tasted amazing!
Tacenda20 2 points 1y ago
As long as you like chai and matcha it's pretty good! Personally I like it and quite a few of partners at my store like it
mrcupcake18 5 points 1y ago
Similar situation (it now happens every other week) always comes out to $78 and she orders 15 different drink and each drink needs to be under a specific name. She does coffee rinds a lot for her office lol
Intelligent-Ad1273 4 points 1y ago
“Hi can I have Starbucks? No, like the entire store. Give me everything you got.”
Spirited_Ad_3059 4 points 1y ago
Not only way too many orders,,, but an iced London fog. Should be illegal
badatlife15 2 points 1y ago
The only good thing is if you have partners who are on top of it and start the tea steeping as soon as it’s ordered, with all those other drinks it will be ready around the same time. We have a person who orders one in drive regularly, she did it this past Sunday when we had barely any line when she ordered, but ended up creating a line because of her drink
Zealousideal-Star448 3 points 1y ago
Have them go sit in there car and think about what they have done. They can go through the line again.
Kimmikkokat 3 points 1y ago
I know this was a thing well before covid but I feel like the presence of covid has allowed people to become more comfortable doing this on a regular basis.
Green_barista_front 3 points 1y ago
RIP
Outrageous_Sorbet_72 3 points 1y ago
the disrespect.
bailter_space 2 points 1y ago
We would've just asked her to pull through and come in
Keithxmizu 2 points 1y ago
ong i’d run ones
dammitchels 2 points 1y ago
this made me weep for you
LaurdAlmighty 2 points 1y ago
Nah we would have made them come in
raycamaro 2 points 1y ago
That’s the person I always get stuck behind when I try to go to a drive-through during lunch
Improvmomolyfe 2 points 1y ago
Does anyone else miss this bump screen? I hate the touch screen aspect
Animuthrowawayplz [OP] 8 points 1y ago
I didn't even know there was another type of bump screen.
badatlife15 2 points 1y ago
Yeah this is what my store has too
anonbiotch01 2 points 1y ago
Yeah that wouldve ruined my day
Roscop7391 -8 points 1y ago
For $136 let her hold up the line for 5 mins. That’s $27.20 per minute that she is there.
im_feeling_cold 51 points 1y ago
and yet we’re still making the same hourly wage
Weekly-Name-5112 33 points 1y ago
Yeah that doesn't do the baristas any good. We don't get a cut of that. I honestly could care less how much money my store made. Doesnt matter is someone spends $5 or $500 i still make the same amount either way. I'm missing your point.
RyusuiJL 3 points 1y ago
It makes a difference when your store doesn't get enough profit and your SM has to cut labor hours. We've been on a skeleton crew for weeks now because we've had to cut at least 2 shifts per day.
mama_bibi 10 points 1y ago
So here's the inside kick to the head...Starbucks big goal is not profit per customer. What they really want is the amount of customers served.

In that half hour period you can have 100 customers spending a total of 600 or you can have 50 customers spending 900....what they care about is the 100 customers served. It's a shit algorithm that they care about.

With that said they still want the money but they want us to kill ourselves serving as many people as possible
