I promoted myself to customer a while back, and on the like two occasions a year I get a Frappuccino with affogato shots, it often comes with the shots blended in. I’d rather trust they’ll do it right and gently request it be remade IF the mistake is made. As a barista, I’d rather fix my mistake than have the assumption made I WILL make the mistake

Whenever I was on DTO and a customer said that, I’d sarcastically tell my bar “hey, be sure to do the obvious step of this common drink”. Or when I’m on bar, “oh, I wasn’t gonna include mocha sauce in this mocha but I guess now I will”

My thought process being newish and never having been asked for affogato shots so I haven't thought about them since my initial iPad training: "OK, that's not ristretto and obviously not normal shots... must be the other butto- no, those are long shots... uhhhhhhh...." context clues filled me in, but I would have had to ask if I got the order. Mind you I WOULD ask, not just assume I know or that the customer wouldn't notice. Lol

Ah bummer! Honestly, the reason I like the espresso affogato is because the sip is espresso forward with the sweetness coming behind. Also, when espresso is blended in, somehow it incorporates a bunch of air in it. Like it’s…foamy? Have you ever noticed how you end up with way more than 1 oz of extra in the blender when you add a 1 oz espresso shot? I think it’s the temp difference. That’s my theory, at least :)

Someone once ordered an iced latte and told me to “make sure they make it RIGHT, with the ice in the cup first. They never do it right.” Someone else told me his shaken espresso is always made wrong- they put the milk on top like he won’t notice they didn’t shake it in.

biggest pet peeve of mine hands down is lattes and shaken espressos with light ice. brewed coffees and refreshers and stuff yeah i get it, super valid even, but i think customers think lattes come out of a tap the same way the rest do and i don’t know how to explain to them that light ice just means extra milk and muted flavor??

This reminds me of a lady that called my store and insisted that her hot caramel macchiato had pumpkin spice in it. And she said "next time make sure not to put stuff in someone's drink that they don't ask for." And just kept telling me to relay the information to my coworkers and that she hates pumpkin spice. She didn't even ask for a remake or refund, just wanted to complain. I bet nobody even put pumpkin in it either, its kinda hard to misread caramel macchiato as pumpkin spice latte lol

I hate when people complain about things that aren’t our problem. I had someone complain in the drive thru that we personally made them late because the parking lot was crowded .. like .. if you saw the line why did you get in it? Also we share a parking lot w Walmart so we literally can’t control the traffic like dang we’re doing our best to clear the line. She didn’t even order anything just sat there saying “I don’t want to complain but I’m late for work maybe you should be more proactive and fix your parking lot, I don’t want to complain though sorry just your parking lot is crowded and I’m late” like lady ! I had a customer insist that I didn’t make her drink right. She got a matcha latte and wanted to make sure that she got 4 scoops. I ensured her that I put the 4 scoops in there. She then accused me of not being able to count to 4 because she apparently comes there “all the time” and that it tasted different. I even offered to add another scoop, remake it, or make a different drink… she just continued to accuse me of miscounting and complain that it didn’t taste right so I got so far behind on drinks 🙃

We’re now asked to get names on drivethru orders and put them in on an Ask Me. The issue is that you can only use one Ask Me, so if you actually have a specification you want to put in the Ask Me, it deletes it when you hit Ask Me to input a name. Then customers are mad because you missed a specification on their order. Ugh! Getting names at drivethru is really dumb. Half the time I mishear them and put the wrong name anyway. So pointless.
