Chai tea lattes both hot and iced (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Iprobablyhateyou4
How do you make a chai tea latte both hot and iced?

For hot, chai base and steamed milk
For cold, chai base and cold milk+ice

I looked at the recipe cards, for a hot chai tea, you do 50% hot water, 50% steamed milk.

Do I add 50% cold water to the iced ones?

Am I the only one doing it wrong?

Only hot has water added. But I would often get screamed at when a customer saw me adding water.

I’ve had no one complain about it being too strong, I guess I’ll keeping do it the way I have been…? I plan on asking a shift how to make it and see their opinion

i add water. its called a “chai tea latte” so like all other tea lattes, it has half hot water

This one is rough because baristas do make it differently and usually so they don't get yelled at so it's hard to blame them.

the hot one gets hot water, in the iced one the ice counts as the water

Hot gets half water half milk. Cold doesn’t get water, just milk (and ice) ( and the chai pumps ofc😉)

the hot water activates something within the chai. if you taste a hot chai latte with and without water you can taste a difference. the only thing adding water to an iced chai would do is dilute the flavor. you def should only be using milk and chai for the iced version.

Hot gets pumps, then hot water to the siren, the finish with steamed 2%. Cold be pumps, milk, Ice. These are my favorite to make. Quite a few people as for no water, so when someone says it’s to weak, i suggest a remake with no water and they end up happy. it’s common and i feel many times it’s a better brink experience for folks when it’s no water.
