submitted by Regular-Reveal8133
just had someone mobile order an upside down shaken espresso i don’t even know what to do with that lol. i shook the milk instead of the shots bc i just have no idea what this person wants

I am dying laughing at shaking the milk instead 🤣😂🤣

i panicked i was like what’s the opposite of a shaken espresso
OneRoseDark69 points1y ago
every time one of my baristas shows me this sticker in a panic i say "pour an inch or two of milk in the cup before putting your shaken shots in it?" and their faces always go from "what??" to "oh.. duh." in 0.023 seconds. usually followed by a verbal "oh yeah.. that should've been obvious"
It's obvious once someone tells you, but apparently none of us could come up with it on our own.

For a mobile order they were probably just having fun pressing buttons honestly. I probably would’ve added milk to the cup first before pouring the shaken espresso but 🤷🏻♀️ they don’t know what they ordered either
queenlehane27 points1y ago
Just pour the milk in the cup before the shaken espresso...
Regular-Reveal8133 [OP]27 points1y ago
the opposite of a shaken espresso is a shaken milk it makes sense
LilacFlores44 points1y ago
But they aren’t asking for the opposite? They are asking for an upside down drink which just means preparing the drink the reverse way not a different way.

I’m literally in hysterics 😭🤣

we actually have a regular at my store who orders this, he said he likes the contrast like it was an iced caramel macchiato but with espresso foam... i put milk, shaken shots and top off with ice if i need more volume 🤠
Necessary_Low93915 points1y ago
Omg I chuckled when u said u shook the milk instead 😂😂😂 I think they just want the milk and cinnamon on the bottom and the shaken espresso on top
FfierceLaw7 points1y ago
What’s dumb about the order is that they risk losing some of the shaken espresso if it doesn’t fit in the cup but that’s their loss
Malachite_Migranes4 points1y ago
Exactly what I would have done
badatlife153 points1y ago
Duh you’re supposed to stand on your head and then proceed to shake the espresso /s
thedevvylee3 points1y ago
Maybe pour milk first in cup then shaker contents ontop. I’m not sure haha
musically_shifted3 points1y ago
Milk to the first line and then pour the rest on top boo 😂 I can’t believe you shook the milk. This made my day.
sh0werrod2 points1y ago
I’ve said it before I’ll say it again, customers just order stuff that sounds cool but have no idea what it actually is LMAO
rlogranite2 points1y ago
Just make a shaken espresso
molwalk1 points1y ago
All the shaken espressos confuse the hell out of me
dallizzlee1 points1y ago
I’ve gotten this before and I just put the milk in the cup before pouring the shaken shots in

Forgot to post about this so your supposed to put milk in first before espresso
cpv_910 points1y ago
OMG.. I have someone who mobile orders this through curbside every day. First time I saw it I was like WTF. So I just pack the cup with ice put the syrup on top and pull the shots over the ice. Shake and top of with milk. They seem to be happy with the result because it's never come back but then again I don't really think they even know what they ordered or what it was supposed to taste like. 🤷 I've just kept making the same way. Only person to ever order it this way.

If this is the case, how do we make iced matcha lattes?
[deleted]0 points1y ago
you’re supposed to shake the matcha and the ice, pour it in the cup and then add the milk. some people put the milk first, it’s really up to your discretion. recipe cards never say to put milk in a shaker
Isaac_Ingram5 points1y ago
What you’re saying is definitely not true, at least not for corporate stores in the US. I’m not sure where you’re from so maybe that’s the differentiator, but the beverage guide for the matcha tea latte says very clearly that you are to put the ice, matcha, **and** milk into the shaker.
[deleted]1 points1y ago
in my almost 4 years i’ve never seen matcha made with milk in the shaker (unless it’s coconut), it might just be in my country i guess
Roolita2 points1y ago
This is absolutely incorrect for current standards
idonthinksoannie3 points1y ago
This is an outdated standard. At one point we couldn't put milk in the shaker, but once they changed the build of the iced matcha latte all bets were off.
Regular-Reveal8133 [OP]3 points1y ago
i’ve made pink drinks with 2%, heavy cream, half and half, and almond milk in the shaker
Isaac_Ingram2 points1y ago
As you should since that is the standard.
[deleted]1 points1y ago
that’s gross, maybe don’t do that anymore LOL
Regular-Reveal8133 [OP]4 points1y ago
starbucks’ whole thing is we can’t promise cross contamination lmfao
Regular-Reveal8133 [OP]2 points1y ago
wait fucj no cross contamination *
[deleted]1 points1y ago
yes but we’re supposed to still attempt to prevent it, hence the standards. we can’t promise a barista won’t give you covid but we have standards that prevent it, same thing
