chances of getting hired? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mommiess
so i recently got a job at starbucks and practically got fired (not on a bad note but i can imagine my manager was probably a little disappointed but understanding) due to a circumstance i was in regarding my home life.

there's a starbucks closer to me that i want to apply to when everything dies down but my issue is i've applied to it *before*. what happened was i had an interview scheduled that i had to reschedule for— and then when i went to the one we rescheduled i was told the manager had thought my interview was earlier. they said they'd call me back but didn't so i'm afraid to apply again.

another issue is, i thought about not putting that i worked at starbucks before on my resume because i'd ask why i got fired and they might see the issue as a problem that could occur at their location as well— but i can't *not* say i worked at starbucks as well due to like, the partner numbers and everything.

what do you think i should do?

I was a rehire. What did u get fired for?

my parents were refusing to take me to work so i wasn’t able to go to one of my shifts, and because it was gonna be a recurring problem my manager let me go.

The thing is ur ss and partner numbers are linked. U can explain urself but what if this issue comes up. U said it’s a little closer to home but it doesn’t sound like u can just walk there. Go back when u can go to work on ur own.

you’re right, i’m just in such a tough spot that i kind of need a job— my parents don’t really provide apart from basic necessities and even complain about some of those.

Sorry u are going through this but if u reapply again and have the same issue u might be red flagged. So I think it’s best to just apply later when u can be independent. As for looking for a job, I’m sure u can find somewhere local to support yourself. I was fired for time and attendance because of a shitty sm not scheduling me and I was picking up double shifts. Anyway she eventually got fired. There will be an understanding sm that will take u but u can’t be dependent on ur parents to take u to work. Hopefully soon u will be old enough to move outta ur situation.

you don’t think i should reapply after i talk to my parents? not to the same one but a different one?

U also can only reapply after 6 months. From what I heard

Read my other reply to ur previous comment.

apply! and if there’s an area for any comment, be transparent and take accountability for anything you need to! definitely include that you were hired before because they will find out and ~that will be the bigger problem. a good manager will be understanding, and quite frankly they’re hiring everyone and anyone right now. explain how your circumstances have changed if they have and in which ways you’re working on keeping it that way (time management, relationship boundaries, things people like to hear lol). i just can’t emphasize enough that transparency is a core value for starbucks (even if upper management sucks at it) and this will get you at least considered imo.

thank you so much. i’m just scared of rejection because i’ve had weird issues with that starbucks due to my last interview… (where i kept rescheduling and they were messing up my interview dates)
