asked a guy once if he needed room in his coffee for cream or sugar (a pretty normal standard question for a barista to ask) and the man goes “eh i figure if i’m not man enough to drink it black i shouldn’t be drinking it!” like… sir? you okay?

Lol. Love it. And then when you finally get them to focus on the question, they say something like “is tall the largest one?, further lengthening the interaction. For Christ’s sake we understand the shared nomenclature all civilized humans have used for decades. Just say small, medium, large!

I love how all the brewed coffee drinkers pat themselves on the back for being simple and low-maintenance, but in reality the brewed drinkers at my store are the highest maintenance bunch. All a bunch of white men over 60, who linger in the lobby for the longest time and come up for multiple refills. They complain about the temperature of the coffee, the temperature in the lobby, the volume of the music, and the fact that we don’t sell newspapers anymore. They were the most likely to get upset and bewildered about the refillable cup policies changing during Covid and not being able to use their personal cup temporarily, no longer having a condiment bar, you name it. Then they want to talk about conservative politics and complain about the state of the world. What a miserable bunch.
