This morning my SM announced that he got a job in corporate partner care after working here for 8 years. He's been managing three stores the last couple months, and is the best boss I've ever had. He's made our crazy drive store feel like a small mom & pop cafe.
He's a single dad with main custody of two kids, and he'll be able to work from home with his kids. It's a huge step for him, and I'm ready to celebrate.
I'm going to miss him, and I'm worried about what will happen with our store because there are no spare ASMs to promote, and we're already short on SMs. He made working for this company, for this store, worth it. I don't know what will happen to us, but he's going to a better life, and that's a good thing.

I wish I was good with words, but I'm not so please don't be mad if this is really weird, but I really love the sentiment I get from reading your post. It's clear you like the guy and want the best for him, and that's such a lovely thing to see. We often see such negativity (in this sub, in the world in general) and seeing how much love and care people hold for each other really makes my day every time. So thank you for genuinely being happy for him, despite the uncertainty it brings you. :)

Maybe he will be able to make some small changes from higher up for the rest of us too :)

Hopefully but it’s not a one man job and unfortunately we have too many bad seeds up there

This warms my heart

this is so sweet <3 i hope your store finds a new manager who can fill at least a fraction of his shoes! it is so nice to see someone post something positive in here. i have a great store manager that was just promoted last year. ive been with the company for 6 years and it was so great to finally have a manager that cares and makes work fun but is also taken seriously. i would be so happy if he was promoted but would seriously miss him. i wish you and your store luck in the future! congrats to your SM as well. thank you for the sweet post today

This is awesome! I can tell y’all really respect and like your SM. As a former SSV, I would have to make calls a lot to different troubleshooting lines, and every once in awhile I would get someone that just absolutely made my day, and went out of their way to make good conversation with me during the call. I hope he can have those experiences with partners as well in his new position! A knowledgeable, great person can really make your day on those lines.

Congrats to him and high five to you for being so genuinely happy for him. He sounds amazing.
In my career, the jobs could come and go but the people (and great, compassionate managers) definitely make or break the time we spend at work.
Best wishes to him and here's hoping you land another great manager!
