hey guys, so my mental health has been really bad and i’ve just felt so overloaded lately. i also work at a school full time and work at sbux on the weekends to help pay bills. i have a shift in 2hrs, 4 to close but can’t find the energy/motivation to go. i can’t keep working 7 days a week. i also go to cosmetology school and am just so exhausted. i want to quit but i don’t want to ruin my chances of working at sbux again. i love working there and would like to work there in the future. what can i do? my sm requires me to be available saturday and sunday so i can’t just work one day a week so i can have a day off. i just want to message her saying my mental health has been really bad and that i won’t be able to keep working there. but i don’t want to be that employee that just quits and i feel like if i say that it will sound bad. i’m sorry for explaining everything so horribly. i’m just not sure what to do.

Can you afford to take a leave of absence? Or do you need to totally disconnect from the company for your mental health? Your health must always be your first priority and it sounds like you are very burned out. Please take care of yourself. Sometimes even a short respite can help. Also, (I’m just brainstorming) but since everyone seems to be short on hours this might be the best time to ask for a break and actually get people to pick up your shifts? Good luck and take care.

"Hey. I can't come into work today. My mental health is absolutely crushing me currently, and I need a day to reset. I cannot bring myself to get out of bed, it's too hard.” (found on another post) and then “How would I go about taking a leave of absence?”. Would that sound okay?

I have been separated for almost a year so talking to someone who is currently working would be best, but I just went through my SM and asked for a LOA due to mental health reasons and then went to my primary care MD and said that I was stressed to the max because of all the work/Covid/family (insert whatever reason) and they provided documentation to Sbux.

i can afford to take a leave of absence. how would i go about reaching out to my store manager and doing that? i get anxious whenever i have to text them, especially since i would be missing my shift today and calling in so close to when my shift starts
