Currently applying to work at starbucks... got any interview tips? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by meandmyspoon
I was a dunkin barista for a year and a half and i am ready to move on to something better ($9 an hour is not acceptable anymore). I applied to a starbucks in a target near my apartment and i was wondering if you guys had any advice or tips for the interview and training process.

Hi there! I had an interview two weeks ago and personally for me, it was pretty easy. It was basic questions like, what does customer service mean to you? How would you deal with a unsatisfied customer? Tell me about one of your experiences on great customer service. Questions like that pretty much but it may be different in different stores. Goodluck!

ps make sure you ask them questions in the end! Its gives off a really good impression!

Hi so I was literally in the same boat as you (wanting to move from dunkin to starbucks) and during my interview I basically sold myself as a person who rlly loves customers and customer interaction. Anyone can learn to make drinks but you can’t learn social cues overnight. As for training, I haven’t been working very long but i’ve been told I picked things up fast and i’m doing good so if we had the same experience at dunkin I think you’ll be okay too. Just don’t be too hard on yourself and remember everyone makes mistakes. I feel like dunkin prepared me for making drinks during a rush like someone’s pointing a gun at my head but i’m having trouble with sequencing so when you start working make sure to ask abt that !! anyway good luck i hope you get a job at starbucks :)

Hi there! I recently left a job for the same reason ($9 is absolutely unacceptable and it baffles me how places still think they can pay that much and retain workers). I’m still considered a green bean at Starbucks, but I’m close to aging out of that. My most important interview tips are to be on time or five minutes early, and to be prepared to give examples of how you reflect the Starbucks values. I made a point to know what the Starbucks mission statements were and my manager was impressed. I was hired on the spot and started two weeks from my interview date. A few miscellaneous things are that they will likely offer you a drink when you arrive- accept it! The interview seemed so much more casual with my manager and myself both chatting over coffee. Also make sure you have a copy of your resume and just be yourself. Good luck, OP! Update us with how things go!
