So did everyone's managers get fired along with the hour cuts or... (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by MonsteraNSFW
I've been seeing a surprising amount of new managers on here and am thinking the firing of our beloved store manager wasn't the only one. She was fired due to labor issues (but fuck if she wasn't an an amazing boss. Best boss I've ever had) even though we make the most money in our district and she has gotten the store up from basically nothing because the manager before was utter shit. The new manager we literally all hate and we know they chose her because she's a suck up that'll do anything corporate wants. Anyone else seeing this kind of trend at their stores? I miss having a manager that advocated for us.

Sooooo…we got a new manager that was a corporate hire, never worked at the siren prior. Immediately implemented hour cuts, strict upholding of all policies and pushed hiring. Our old SM was kick ass and created a chill enjoyable workspace. I have a theory that they pushed out the SMS that they couldn’t control and brought in new ones they could. Just a hunch.

OUR NEW MANAGER IS A CORPORATE HIRE TOO!! They're never good and they never last. Hiring from within makes for great managers. Corporate is definitely out for managers throats right now. So many have been fired for stupid shit in my area.

I wonder if it’s a way to control unionizing? Our old SM was very Pro-Union, even if it meant their job would
change. She was a 15 year bean. So sad to see her go 😢

we have an assistant store manager that has had no prior experience with starbucks at our store that gets paid twice as much as our store manager. its so annoying when they’re on the floor. they seriously have no idea what they’re doing outside the managing aspect. i feel like people have to go through being a barista first and THEN being promoted to asm, etc. its shitty to just hire for the asm position because i’d rather have an asm that can jump on bar when we are short staffed (one that gets paid half as much as them) than someone who literally had to ask me about every drink recipe when they were on bar (and she gets paid twice as much??? wtf)

and then the labor cuts bullshit. the store manager is literally the “closing shift” this upcoming week, i have no fucking idea what they’re doing but i’ve never known of managers at my store working close. it’s so strange.

My manager from my store in hometown got fired and I’m still crying about it tbh. Hers was bc of the Covid check in thing but man I’m still upset about it. I heard another manager in our state got fired for the same thing too.

It’s so upsetting when it’s often individual baristas not doing it. I’ll admit, I sometimes forget but my ssv’s are on our asses about it, especially now. That’s what confuses me the most about it. Idk how ppl weren’t doing it when they would bring the clipboard to us if it wasn’t done.

Our district is short 2 SMs and my SM is currently running 3 stores. He just got a position in corporate partner care, and there aren't any ASMs.

We're very uncertain where our next SM will come from but if it's corporate istg I'm jumping ship

yeah our current sm is leaving in a few minths and we're in the middle of training a new one...he's not very popular for varying reasons 😬

This sound exactly like my situation, terrible manager up and left the place a mess along with almost all of the staff. My friend being one of the only employees left took over temporary management and brought the place back along with bringing on a full staff to be open full hours again. She tried for full manager but got the position taken from her by someone who had been fired from the store a few years prior for being an idiot(I won’t elaborate) and said new manager was awful she didn’t know how to schedule, didn’t hire people when the store needed help, always left 2-3 hours early and didn’t train anyone that needed it and instead left it to her baristas who are not certified to train to teach these new hires to do things. Not to mention she never took accountability for doing things wrong(one time she closed 4 hours early for no reason and didn’t make new mocha and then let us use it the next day without saying anything). But it’s ok, I quit this month :)

Edit: she also began cutting my hours down to the same awful shift every week before I had even put in my two weeks despite her knowing I needed money to get by for the few weeks I wouldn’t have a job (couldn’t start my new one until later in the month)
