When I was at Starbucks they loved to schedule baristas that wanted to be full time for like 15 hours/week and then me, a college student who didn’t want to work more than 20 hours/week, for like 30. It was infuriating for everyone

My manager is super nice and has told me so many times that I can have 40 hours so I’m super confused

Mine was also super nice when I brought it up, but after multiple times of the schedule not changing I finally told her that if I couldn’t reduce my hours, I would have to start searching for other job opportunities that would respect that. Only then did my hours drop. :’) I would let your SM know that you’re really concerned about making ends meet with the reduced hours and if you can’t start getting more hours you’ll have to look elsewhere, maybe that’ll light a fire under them to take you seriously

Yeah that’s a good idea. I think I’ll give it a couple weeks just to see what happens because she said it should go back to normal soon. So hopefully it does

it happens every year around this time bc it’s the slowest season at sbux. it goes back to normal in a couple weeks

Costs are going up, so corporates looking for ways to maintain and improve their profit margins despite that. Cutting staffing costs are an easy, if shortsighted, method of doing so.
And if all the current staff quit... Well, there's a lot of people who probably need a job right now...

i feel lucky mine are basically the same. i’m in college so i was only making 20 a week before the cuts but now i’m still in the 16-19 hour range which is fine.

My sm said they should go back to normal soon but him still worried. This is the first time they’ve gone below 30 so I’m kinda freaking out lol
