transitioning to a shift (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Outrageous_Sorbet_72
alright so i’m a barista who’s been with the company for over six months. my manager and asm love me and have previously asked about my intentions to become a shift. i told them i wanted a little more experience before i take that step.

i’m going to apply to be a shift in a few months but in the meantime, what are some things i can do/begin to take note of that will help prepare me and make me a strong shift? are there resources for me to look at? i wanna be great at my job because i really do love my partners and i want to be good for them and make their shifts smoother.

Most important is to build good relationships with all your partners! Understand what positions partners excel at and where they need work so you can properly place them during peak and other busy times and allow them to practice when it's slower. Also, familiarized yourself with the DCR and how shifts decide to dole out breaks and switch up partner's positions throughout the day. Good luck!!
