shift changed (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Happy_Gur_4200
can my sm text me 45 minutes before my shift is about to start and shorten me by 2 hours of work? had a 9am start and got a text at 8:15 telling me to come in at 10:30 instead. feels like that shouldn’t be allowed?

i would have just showed up at my scheduled time and said "oh no i didnt even see your text!" LMAO.,,, it prob shouldnt be allowed, ur entitled to your scheduled hours

No, it shouldnt be allowed. Especially only 45m before. In the future, just say no and that you will be there for your scheduled shift.

The fact that he texted you rather than calling or going through official channels seems sketchy. Tbh this doesn't sound like it is allowed.

Official policy is 48 hours I believe

idk the official policy, but this feels sketchy af. consult your partner guide or the hub, maybe? if you aren’t allowed to refuse, that seems really messed up… i see why stores are unionizing.

Once the schedule is posted, it can't change without permission. Text is not official communication. Just ignore all texts.

In California (don’t know if it changes by state) they have to either give you 48 hours notice or you both have to agree to it. Don’t give up your hours if you don’t want too!!

Official policy says no i am pretty sure. I just got hired and read it. “Cant change time unless agreed upon by both parties.” This can totally be a state thing, however. Read any policy manual you have or were given.
