Ssv’s? How do you guys utilize the play builder? Do you find it helpful? If so can you plz explain it to me, I feel like I’m having a hard time comprehending it. My ASM has been trying to get me to use the app more but it feels useless to me. (self.starbucksbaristas)

Pretty much exactly what the other comment has said! You should be changing it to fit your needs and how you're calling the play. /You/ know where you're putting your partners and where they are but it's helpful for other people that are just coming in to the store (another ssv swapping with you, another barista who just started their shift, your sm or asm) and needing to know where everybody is and what's going on 💛

We actually found out we were running floors wrong (SM and all shifts included)! Now that we follow the play builder it's actually so much smoother.

We had all been putting a DTO and DTR in drive thru when it was supposed to be a solo. Having that "Support" position up front to flex everywhere is a huge relief, after everyone else gets used to staying planted. Much better than DTO+DTR where they're both standing still waiting for items.

i agree with that so much!! we rarely have two people planted on drive, it's just not worth it for us 😅 but the play builder can definitely help with some tips and suggestions that are different than what you're used to doing, we have to change it to fit our needs sometimes just because what it is asking isn't really feasible lol. i opened it once to it having the cold bar barista also doing brewing during peak, which just wouldn't work in our store at all lol

I was the same way and hated using it, but it does offer a really helpful way to see your layout and see where/what should be done at the bottom. Use it till u love it bc my district is really strict about keeping it updated to see how the work is being distributed.

Yea my district is really pushing for that strictness, thank you for your incite 🙌

Because it is! Just update it depicting your plays and make sure that you can explain your plays using the Starbucks lingo with it; “Play builder is up to date, I have a 4 person play and here is the list of who is doing what”. Play builder for my store often leaves a crucial position (like bar) uncovered which we cant leave uncovered as SSV’s and I’ve heard the same from other stores. Just change it as you need, keep it up-to-date as you change your plays and play along with using it. It also often assigns tasks that are not viable for certain positions to do (like bar grabbing warming??) In which case I typically inform my barista so they are knowledgeable as to what play builder wants them to do in case management asks but if I’m questioned I’m often able to explain why that’s ridiculous and I won’t have my bar grabbing the food.

you can click flex and change everyone’s secondary i positions! it’s very handy for when it decides that yes, hot bar needs to be grabbing warming (wtf)

How strange! Ours is incredibly accurate so maybe our SM updates it a lot. It bases plays on percentage of business in each category though so I'm not sure how much he changes

My SM had told me it was totally automatic and I had heard from a couple people from the surrounding districts that they were having the same issues so I had assumed it was a general bug but in that case it might be user error

It was really useful to me when I first started, but once I became familiar with what my day parts would look like, I didn’t use it as much.
