Rehiring (self.starbucksbaristas)

Does anyone know if Starbucks has a waiting period before rehires?

No, but I think if your gone for more than a year they will have to retrain you completely

It depends on whether you quit or were let go. Either way you can be rehired, just may depend on the manager

I had quit. None of the Starbucks' in my area want me, so I guess it's not a matter of a waiting period but just an aversion to rehires

Or it could be your previous manager flagged you “not re-hirable”. Most people don’t know SM’s can file a report about you to PRC. When you reapply they can call PRC and ask to know what your previous manager said about you or left in your file. They can also call your previous manager personally and ask about you. Technically they shouldn’t say anything more then if they would rehire you but some go rouge and say what ever they want especially if it’s in the same area they all know each other anyway. Always leave on good terms and finish your 2 weeks fully. Favoritism is also huge so if your not your SM’s fav you mind as well not reapply. Sad but true and seen it happen too many times.

Absolutely true. I’ve been trying for years to get back in and I finally did when I got an inside tip about an Sbux job fair. The manager that hired me happened to be my old ASM, we worked under the same manager. Turns out, my old manager didn’t flag me as not re-hirable but instead left comments that I had issues with time management, punctuality, and cash handling. None of which were true, except I may have occasionally been late. However my shifts ran tight and my cash was always on point. I think she used terms that would make other managers think “nah not taking a chance on this one.” Some managers are petty. And that was 10 years ago.. Sbux keeps that stuff on file forever apparently and you get no opportunity to refute it. I got lucky because my new manager knew how my old manager was. -__-
Best bet is to get to know a manager and a store in your area and become friends with them. Become a regular customer, chat them up regularly and then slide in and ask if they’re hiring. It’s unfortunate that previous managers have so much power on whether or not you get to come back.

Keep us posted!

It's a good tip, but the manager with which I'm the closest is the one who works at my old store. She's not the one who was there when I was there. She's a promoted shift supervisor who used to work at my store, transferred away, and then back again. I don't want to work at my old store because a former coworker works there who bullied me, the entire reason I quit.

When I quit, my manager was out on a leave, so I had a temporary manager. I doubt either one of them would have flagged me. I finished my two weeks. But there's something strange written on a form Starbucks emailed to me when I asked them for documentation of my separation. There are some negative remarks that I was surprised to see. I have no idea where they came from. I'll look them up later.

I had thrown away the original letter Starbucks mailed me saying when I had separated from the company. Then I needed that documentation, so I asked them to send it to me again. Instead, they sent me a form with some information on it I maybe was not supposed to see, haha. Here is what the form says: "Comments
Previous Comments: performance issues, attendance issues, no teamwork with other partners
Currnet Comments:" There's also a part that says: "Rehire Recommendation: Yes No" and neither option is circled.
