more pay for high-volume cafs / drive-throughs? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by vodkitten-
Does any partner feel like high-volume café or drive-through partners should get more pay than regular?
I work in a high volume drive-through café and we do upwards of $10-$11,000 per day and a few of my partners and I really feel like for the mental strain and physical strain we should get at least a bit more..
we are constantly busy and luckily our store manager schedules correctly but none of us get paid enough to do this every single day for a living.
She’s on the floor with us most of the time and it really helps but the days she’s not here we struggle..
and a few of them want to unionize now just to see if we can get higher pay for being in a drive-through
What are your guys thoughts

I've worked in both, 2nd busiest store in LA's east district, and the slowest Cafe in a city in North County SD. I don't think you should get paid differently solely based on Cafe vs Drive.
In drive, I had to bar for 4 hours with no breaks, but I was never asked to stock for myself or even clean up for my self. In Cafe, its me and one other partner for an entire 8 hour shift [12-8p for me, and 12-430p for partner A, and 4-8p for partner B to cover my lunch]. The morning crew gets no money done, no major/multistation tasks done, and more often then not leaves us only half-stocked/prepped. Each of us on our shift need to fill two positions each at least, and are often left alone to ring and bar and stock/clean while the other person does something they need to be off the floor to do [count, pull, money, multistation tasks].

I’m not so sure about this, due to the fact they staff stores based on sales. Does a barista at a store working three stations at once deserve less pay because their store is slower? No. No one gets paid enough.
