Yeahhhh area management has a tendency to implement “policies” that don’t exist nor make sense while simultaneously ignoring the ones that do exist and make a difference.

It was policy during enhanced safety/covid procedures in our area, but ended months ago, can't recall when...

We only leave lemon loafs in the package because the break so damn easily
Illustrious-Air9834 2 points 1y ago
Also coffee cake

We warm those and pray to the siren they don’t break. Or do depends on if I’m hungry or not

Depends on your manager, but we can’t leave it in the package unless the customer requests it because on the plastic it says “not for retail sale” or “not labeled for resale.” Because it’s packaging, if it’s sold as-is, it has to have nutritional info on it by law. Same goes for boxes of refreshers, milks, etc.

so according to my SM corporate changed it for covid. i know at my previous store it was a cardinal sin to leave it in the package and i hate having to say yes

Why does this bother you one way or the other lol
No_Introduction8689 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
bc legally we can get in trouble for doing it
Ordinary-Theory-8289 2 points 1y ago
On what legal basis lol
Necessary_Low939 2 points 1y ago
Policy is to take it out. What u said wasn’t a policy but I keep it inside because I’m lazy 🤪 and it also prevents it from breaking anddddd it’s faster anddddddd it’s fresher. I just tell the customer it’s fresher.

Like keeping it in the cellophane?? Is it that you *have* to keep it in the plastic or is it that you *can't* keep it in the plastic?

Bc if it's the former, I do that all the time for customers! I don't think it was a policy change so much as an individual manager thing. Good strategy in theory, but annoying in practice I'm sure.
