I really don’t understand why some of you all complain so much (my coworkers included) (self.starbucksbaristas)

I’ve been working with Starbucks for a little over a month, and while yeah it is a lot of work, it’s fun! I do have a pretty good SM, but even my fellow coworkers complain about the stupidest shit. Like having to close one day a week, or having their schedule change slightly. Maybe I just have serious job trauma from previous jobs and bosses I’ve had but I really don’t get it lol. I’m sure there are some bad managers out there. In fact our DM isn’t the greatest, but people really hate on this job w/o fully understanding that for an entry level job it’s really not that bad.

Look, I’ve been with Starbucks for a little over a year now, and I actually agree. Do I wildly hate going to work sometimes? Yes, of course. But also, it’s just a job. Do it right and move on. Don’t take customers too seriously. Don’t take your coworkers too seriously. Complaining the entire time you’re on a certain position isn’t going to lessen the work load in any way and you only continue to put yourself down. I used to haaaaate going in and I would complain a lot too, but changing into a more positive mindset has helped me and my team tremendously.

I'm sure there are people who have worked at your previous jobs for a month and then said the same thing

I’ve been with Starbucks for 4 months now, but this is my 4th job in 2 years. I hated every other position I worked until I applied to work for the siren. I love my job, I like the customers in my hometown, I like the store itself, and I like what we do. Granted, sometimes I will complain about something stupid. That doesn’t mean I won’t get over it in the next 10 minutes. Lots of people complain for the camaraderie and to joke for a little bit. Otherwise, if they complain about closing shifts then they’re young and they’ll learn to deal with it.

As a 9 year partner I have to agree. It’s hard work but if you have a decent SM and good coworkers it’s a lot better than anything else in the restaurant/retail industry

Your experiences are absolutely valid but just to play devil’s advocate a bit, it sounds like we got hired around the same time, my numbers were 192…. And I thought it was a pretty good job as well and just rolled with the changes. But you haven’t worked anywhere else in almost a decade? I got a new job offer with a different coffee shop in 2019 and have really loved it and realized just how bad things were at Starbucks and how much the company itself has stopped caring about its employees

I know what you mean, in my area the main complaint is about coworkers, constantly. In the back of my mind I’m like talk to them or nothing is gonna change, but in reality I say nothing
