how is it that starbucks still won’t allow us to put out straws/stoppers/sugar but let both baristas and customers go maskless?? it’s already been proven covid doesn’t spread across surfaces. it’s so damn annoying when i’ve got 10 customers stopping me every 30 seconds for straws or some bullshit. i don’t even care if people pocket all the sugars, or take 5 straws so long as i can make drinks in peace without having my flow interrupted

my store is high volume and we have straws and stoppers, stir sticks out for customers, we just don’t have a condiment bar open. my theory for that is that corporate wants to force customer connections, also wants to keep as much money as possible since customers could potentially take more sugar packets than they need. yes, those 2¢ matter to corporate, but not when they force us to waste food every damn day (im talking to you, pastry case)

yeah!!! waste all the $6-7 sandwiches we want but god forbid a customer take a few extra sugar packets

In one of the weeklies it said the reason we don't have condiment bars set up at this point and the reason we won't ever again is because of customer connection scores. They think the customers coming up to us asking for the stuff will help our connections.

when will they realize it doesn’t help shit 💀 barista being bothered by customer every 2 seconds = annoyed barista. annoyed barista = unhappy customer. unhappy customer = poor cc score

this is funny to me because the worst interactions i have had with customers have been when they’re asking me for sugars and other things

My store has straws out. But i asked my manager once for the reason of why we keep sugar packets behind the counter and she said its to reduce waste. But there are people that always order espresso shots alone or espresso macchiatos (and theyre regulars) and they always ask for sugar at the end and i cant memorize every order during a rush so i dont catch that its the same person that asks for sugar at the end. I feel like sugars should be out next to the straws that my store has out. I also feel half and half about the idea of putting stoppers out because then everyone reaching for a stopper will touch the other stoppers but at the same time, when theres a rush at my store and people ask for stoppers, ill go to hand it out and instead of grabbing it from me, theyll push theyre drink out towards me. Like just grab it and put it in urself. Theres a rush and i have a million drinks to make and im on fast mode. I cant stop just to try to insert a stopper in their lid hole and hear it click

why wouldn't your store put straws out? they're individually wrapped?

apparently it’s a “health code violation due to covid” or whatever hs my dm told us 😁 my SM put the straws back out because she even agrees we don’t have time to hand out straws to literally every single customer. dm jumped down her throat about it next day
