I like to prepare by typing out and laminating a check list. I did this for closing tasks and helps to be able to see everything that needs to get done. I don’t open a lot but I would like to know what needs to get done. I know the basics like brew the teas and coffees, check dates, restock anything that was missed the night before, clean whatever was missed, and set up the pastry case.

Set out small wares, get sani buckets, full ice bins, wake up the espresso machines, turn on Hobart and ovens

Every store has a slightly different routine. We're a high volume DT and have 2 baristas at open. (Not counting the shift, who does their own stuff)
Whoever assigns in DT brews iced coffee, wakes the Mastrenas, brews teas, brews coffee, fills the sani, and starts a full restock
Whoever does food fifos the pastries, sets up the case, counts the new sandwiches, and goes through the open-11 cards.
