Not a partner but one of my local baristas mentioned she only works at Starbucks for benefits as she owns her own business elsewhere. How does this work?

So you can work at Starbucks 20 hours (the minimum) and get health insurance, 401k and stock (plus more) and still work a second job. As long as the manager is okay with her owning her own business and working for the store, she can legally still do that. I think the only time it could come into question was if she was owning her own coffee stand, that would be conflict of interest.
