Starbucks doesn’t want us to unionize, and that is why they won’t put out any of that information. I was wondering the same thing when I heard about it, so I did some of my own research. I’ve learned that partners all over the country are fighting for higher wages, consistent hours, better benefits, and many other things that would be in our favor. Forming a union will help us reach those goals because the company will have to compromise with our wants and needs. Without a union, any Starbucks benefit can be ripped from us whenever they choose. A union will protect us from that because they would be under a contract. I will say that after unionizing, we will have to pay dues every pay check, but it’s a very small portion. In my opinion, its worth it because it will protect our jobs, hours, wages, benefits, and many other things partners vote for. It will amplify our voice against a company that makes billions every year and still chooses to let their workers (us) live paycheck to paycheck. I suggest you make your own research though because when voting takes place, you’ll be able to make an educated decision. Unfortunately, Starbucks is not providing us with all the information we need to do that, and once you do research, you’ll figure out why 🙃

Hey! So a great place to start would be to look specifically at the union efforts - check out the union's website $1 where they break down some of the things they stand for. You can also check out their twitter $1.

The union push with the company started in August 2021 in Buffalo, NY - hot off the heels of an NLRB ruling regarding a union effort in Philadelphia that failed. Every attempt at unionisation previously has been spurred largely due to issues caused (or made worse) by the Store Manager.

Some of the biggest issues they're looking to have a say in are pay rates, scheduling, health and safety conditions, and protections with unfair disputes or firings. Of course, every store is different, and some are run very well - you could argue that not every store needs a union. But one of the biggest concerns, especially nowadays, is pay.

Check out r/union and ask them why unions are a good thing.
There's many reasons. Unionizing often times results in better scheduling, better pay, and/or better benefits. Unions are a way to hold a company and it's management accountable without having to pay for a lawyer. Unions can help represent workers in disputes. Unions can help workers fight to win settlements, or receive backpay.

If it’s from the company it will be anti union because it is in the best interest of the company that we don’t unionize!
