Starbucks adding new work benefits? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AlexisMorales9997
I saw on the news starbucks is going to be expanding worker benefits. Any clues to what they may add ?

How about just making sure we have enough hours to get the benefits we already have?
CoffeeChesirecat 68 points 1y ago
This better not be just a pizza party.
Necessary_Low939 8 points 1y ago
We don’t even have those anymore.

Doesn’t really matter, it’s a union busting tactic. It’s not a sincere effort to improve our lives. They have already dangled loosing out on these ‘extra benefits’ in front if stores who are announcing/filing/voting.

Just another union busting tactic.

Remember, whatever benefits this company wants to give us or already does - a union can give it to us in a more fair, balanced, and helpful way.

Also it's definitely some nft bullshit lmfao

"Hate her job? Wanna union? Well we can tell our workforce is just ITCHING to get nfts!!"

Maybe the benefit is every partner gets their own NFT of an ape in a Starbucks apron...

What if corporate didn't make 7 figures when we can barely make 5?
Necessary_Low939 2 points 1y ago
7 figures? More like 10, possibly 11.

“What’s the big surprise Michael?”

*hands everyone ice cream sandwiches*

If its not union membership I don't give a fuck.

Some companies like Uber have been doing the thing where they’ll reimburse your gas money if you have to go out of state for an abortion- hopefully it’s that. I live in Oklahoma so at least for states like mine that would be great. You can’t get a legal abortion here anymore.
amalia13lightning 5 points 1y ago
Something tells me that's not going to be it. Is Uber really doing that?
Puddle_Duck88 4 points 1y ago
Right 😂 They asked me to pick a charity for April but it can’t be anything to do with sexuality (gay rights activism) and I thought “you realize half the staff is gay, right? A big part of our customers? Gay”. Also, no animal charities. Why? They suggested homeless shelters but as someone who was in homeless shelters and experienced why homeless people would rather sleep outside in the rain, no thank you. I went with a community garden/farming organization

Wow, really? my manager had one to recommend if we didn't have our own. I went went with hers. I already don't remember what it was, but it had something to do with helping LGBTQ+ kids get out of abusive/neglectful situations
bobbysangtheblues 3 points 1y ago
https://timcast.com/news/yelp-offers-employees-an-abortion-travel-benefit/ yelp, Uber, and a few more. Yes they do because some of us live in states where you can’t access one legally anymore.

And I know it’s not likely!! But it would be nice lmao
0x52and1x52 1 points 1y ago
not sure we should be subsidizing those states
bobbysangtheblues 1 points 1y ago
How else am I gonna get an abortion!?!
venusiangirl 4 points 1y ago
i’m sure it will be something they can just as easily take away
Mission-Accident-917 3 points 1y ago
NO NOTHING BECAUSE THEY CAN TAKE IT AWAY AT ANY TIME THEY WANT TO WITHOUT UNIONS UNIONIZE YOUR STORE GET YOUR JOB SECURITY AND TREATED LIKE A HUMAN BEING AND PAID LIKE ONE TOO
CriticalSheep 3 points 1y ago
The problem here is they're promising things that they're never going to follow through on; the other flip side is they're implying that if you don't join the union you'll get these benefits, which is clearly illegal.

It's just a lot of pretty words that mean nothing in the long run.
