so close to maternity leave and these customers are only getting more wild (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by [deleted]
I just need to vent for a minute because I'm sitting here fuming. For context, I'm 36 weeks about to go on maternity leave on the 24th. I am literally counting down the days until I am gone, but the closer my leave approaches, the wilder the customers get. About 3 weeks ago, a women comes into the drive thru and says that if her coffee isn't made right, then she's going to beat the shit out of someone. She was not joking. Two days ago, man threatened to slap a female barista because his drinks weren't made correctly. Yesterday, someone called to try and cus out that same barista. Also yesterday, the same guy who threatened to slap a barista came back in expecting us to serve him as if nothing happened. Long story short, he ended getting into a screaming match with my coworkers right in the middle of the cafe. What the actual fuck is has gotten into these people?? I'm extremely stressed out every time I go into work. At the end of the day, it's just coffee. It's just sugary juice. Fuck off. Only five more shifts and then I'm out of here.🙏🏿

If someone is threatening harm to y’all…I hope you’re telling them to leave. That is just unacceptable. I would absolutely refuse to serve anyone who tried that shit 🥴

All the customers I mentioned still managed to get their drinks. if they come back next time, I'm pouring it in the drain.

We had a guy physically assault an SSV while he was working on the bar one night…when you give some people an inch, they take a mile. Yall don’t let these people walk all over you and be safe 🥺💖

If ANY customer threatens violence, even jokingly, they need to leave. Your shift or SM needs to back you and if they dont leave the cops can be called!

Just before I was about to go on maternity leave I was stuck on reg. I was helping some guy by making his coffee. I am clearly 8 months pregnant this guy starts yelling at me to go faster. Literally the whole team on the floor jumped on him. It was so funny. He got yelled at by like 5 people. People are just rude.

I really don't get why people are so mean. It's not life or death. It's coffee.😫

Anyone who threatens anyone of you should be asked to leave and upon not leaving should trespassed (make it official, call the police, if you can see the license plate, make a note of it).

None of us are paid enough to put up with that shit and girl you do NOT need that kind of stress in your life NOW or ever. I'm soooo sorry you and your co-workers are having to live through this.

On a happy note, your next shifts should be over soon 😊 (I hope) and congrats on your soon to arrive bundle of joy. Concentrate on that and keep your spirits up.

And you are absolutely right! However, after the whole screaming match, this man still managed to get his drinks made for him and I guarantee you, he'll keep coming back. We just got a new manager and I'm not sure if she knows how to handle these kinds of situations.

Maybe if you have a chance you might find the actual policy and print it out for her. I would do it for you but I'm vacay for a few days and don't know if I'll be back before your leave. Maybe there is a kind soul who can find the policy for you and PM?? 🤞🤞

In any case, an SSV can also trespass someone. Hell, you, as a barista, can and should fill out an incident report. You can do that on any of your iPads. I sincerely urge you to do that, for your physical and mental health.

Thank you!

Yea thats horrible. He shouldnt be able to get his drinks AFTER acting like that. Because then hes gonna keep acting like that there or other places in general thinking that he can still get what he wants. Sorry u keep going thru wild insane people in general (as do all of us baristas im sure lol) but especially when ur about to have a new member added to ur family. I hope everything goes as smooth and amazing as possible with that 🙂

Edit: spelling

Thank you ☺️❤️

Of course! ❤️

All of these situations should be incident reports with the name of the person so if they threaten violence again, they are banned from the store. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. A SSV or your manager can do the incident reports if you and the other baristas involved don’t want to.

A homeless lady shoved my 7 month pregnant assistant manager a few weeks ago. She was livid.

Damn. What state do you work at??
[deleted] [OP] 1 points 1y ago
Michigan. I actually just moved here.
Necessary_Low939 2 points 1y ago
That’s crazy.

I’ve worked at Michigan sbux for 8 years. Customers here are always absolutely nuts. Some of the worst humans I’ve ever encountered. If holly is your DM you will never get support with banning customers.
[deleted] [OP] 2 points 1y ago
Wait, Holly is my dm.😫😫 I just moved here and I've only met her once so I'm not sure what she's like honestly.
