Question for y’all.. I just started at Starbucks. For some reason (social anxiety) I didn’t ask about starting at a higher pay for my previous experience. I worked in bakery a for 6 years that had a coffee side as well. Does Starbucks normally start baristas out at a higher pay for previous experience? I assumed (not the smartest) my Manager would have mentioned it but I just went along with it because I am going to be doing the ASU partnership. But now that I’ve started I’m wondering if it would be fair to ask for a raise? I also have the proof of how fast I am catching on to things as well. Another lesson learned to just speak my damn mind when needed lol thanks in advance

in my experience no they don’t. baristas start out at base pay. pay raises can be somewhat at random but definitely at the beginning of each calendar year, or a promotion. if you’ve got previous experience, that’s they way to go for that $$

i don’t think we got one at the beginning of the year but i believe in the fall we got a $2 raise. i started at sbux 6 years ago and we used to be paid $9 and now it’s $12 so there aren’t a lot of raises. though we were told by the summer it’d get up to $15/hr. btw my states minimum wage here is $7.25 so most states make more

we got one at the beginning of the year if you were a 2 year partner or more. the raise increased if you were over 5 years.

Not everyone got raises as promised. 12 year partner here ...zero raise. Im not the only one either.
