Being asked to forfeit my hours (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by poisonwritings
was asked to come in to my shift and basically work for 2 hours then commute to ANOTHER store to finish my shift because of a call out and if i don’t they’ll write it as voluntarily forfeiting hours and i won’t get the loss of hours pay even tho i wasn’t informed until 2 hrs before my shift starts..

Absurd, abusive treatment.

That's absurd. They can't do that. However I am curious to know if you are aware that you receive mileage for working at another location. You get .59cents per mile from your home store, to the new store and back to your home store.

My main issue with this is my sm giving predictability to various other workers for the same thing but refusing to do so in this occurrence where I'm already working at the store, closing it early, and then being asked to travel and close another store in the same day. Just felt unfair to tell me this was "what they were informed to do in this situation" when giving it to others in the same situation.

Do you know where I can find that written as policy somewhere? I’ve not been paid for mileage before for working other stores.

How does that work?

You get paid out for mileage at the end of your shift at the store you cover. Just ask the ssv to pay out your mileage. There is a section in the DRB to fill out your mileage reimbursement.

On top of being paid mileage to drive to the other store, you do get to stay clocked in to do so
