I am the person who led the strike on Saturday. We have submitted so many tickets about this grease trap. They have come multiple times over the years. My first day at the store for years ago they warned me about the smell. I would have not asked my fellow organizers to walk out over something we hadn't even put a ticket in for yet.
As the original poster said, we are pretty sure it isn't even something that is connected to our store, just in it. And it overflowed. There was grease trap water filled with floating debris all over back room. I texted and called the manager. He told me we were to stay open and to clean it, because it didn't look that bad.
Nobody stopped us from putting in a work order, but nobody fix this problem we've had for years. And it's only one of many. So we walked out. And guess what, the work order I put in that day had a priority to that was going to be fixed on Monday. They came to fix it two hours into our strike.
Organizing works.
