Sigh (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Unicorn_Warrior1248
So lately. The advice that I’ve gotten from my leaders have been to step down, take a leave of absence, or quit. Well I’ve been applying place and got a new job. The next day I got a call from my ASM saying that she is now the SM of my store and that i’m “not allowed to leave yet.” I know she’s half joking but still.

There's not much info here, but if your "leaders" have been advising you that, I'd interpret that as a lack of respect and go! Are you going through something they won't help with?? Because you can be scheduled less hours or less shift lead shifts without leaving, but that's on them to do. 2 weeks notice to keep the door open to return, but reeeeely weigh out pros/cons and this new job opportunity. Good luck!

I feel so exhausted thinking about it I couldn’t even type it out 😂 I’ve been there about 5 years. 2 stores. The last few years have been rough. And basically, we got an ASM that didn’t really work well with the shifts and baristas, and really nothing about what SBs “stands for.” Our SM was sent to another store to help out months ago. We would go to her and our DM with our problems with the ASM and they did nothing. And never talked to us about it. And was never in the store. And now they promoted the ASM to our SM. She’s been with the company for 6 months. I just can’t anymore

The fact that you're not defending your store speaks volumes. You're burnt out and a change of scenery could do you good. I heard once, and believe, that asking for advice is seeking someone to say whay you already know. Seems you may already know what you need, you just want confirmation. Leave right, and you can always go back! I myself am a rehire from years ago. I'm enjoying a LOT about being back, but it might not be the right time for me either. Sleep schedule and stress levels are effecting my family life, so I'm weighing out a change too.
