I need advice or just even reassurance. The culture around being sick can be so damaging and toxic so I’m looking for reassurance.
I wasn’t feeling great during my shift yesterday but through nothing of it. I got home from my 8 and a half hour shift and started to decline. Fever, really bad sore throat and headache. Took some advil and it seemed to help and my fever also went down to almost nothing. I decided to wait until the next day (today) to take an at home test so it wasn’t so close to when I first exhibited symptoms.
I just took my at home test and I tested positive for COVID. And it sucks that the biggest thing for me is that I’m scared to tell my SM. This next week 3 of our most consistent and awesome partners are out of town so I was given like 10 extra hours this week. I’m so scared to let everyone down. I know it’s not my fault but still. I also think I’m the first person at my store to get Covid. (It’s also my first time getting it ever) I’m also not super up to date on the covid rules at work so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to come back. Symptoms started yesterday (Saturday) Tested today (Sunday) and I don’t start my multiple days of work in a row until Tuesday.
It sucks that I’m this worried about a job that usually barely gives me 25 hours. But just help. I’m scared and anxious and looking for comfort.
Tldr: got covid for the first time and am scared to tell my SM and feel like I’m letting people down even though it’s probably not the biggest deal.

People at work would rather you stay home and get ready! They probably would have an issue if you went to work! No one can see unforeseen circumstances! You’ll be fine dude, get better soon

At home tests don’t qualify for isolation days, at least not in the US. Check with your SM and see what they say. Check partner hub for the updated isolation guide.
