I've got 17 hours next week. Someone I trained (who has the same availability as me) is getting 26 hours.
Honestly just pissed at the company. Me & my coworkers are struggling to even make rent.
We make literal shitloads of money (one of the top stores in the state), and we can't afford to actually give baristas hours to live off of.
Hired a new person though.. apparently bc "we'll have more labor hours when it gets busier and then we'll need them."
Anyways, shout-out to next week being the first week in my entire tenure (1 year) that I don't work for both days over the weekend.. didn't want those hours anyways ig
We're in the heart of Chicago.. can we atleast make a fucking living? Pathetic.
How's things for y'all?

im working almost 40 hours this week ONLY because i picked up multiple shifts. had it not been for that, i would’ve been working 13 hours.
next week I’m working 11 hours. i used to be scheduled somewhere between 28-35 hours when i started working.
:)
it’s almost may.

That's so shitty. Picking up shifts to actually be able to meet livable hours is a new low.
Hope the unions can help us in this area.. god knows we need it.

Same. I used to have the same amount of hours when I started and now I only have 16 or 17 hours per week and my availability is open. I also live the three or four minute drive from work so I don't even have to get up till about a half hour of being at work

I’ve had to pick up shifts in 3 different stores last week to make bills . Luckily there’s a lot of stores in my area but I am so exhausted giving up my days off just to pay bills. I can’t keep doing 6 days a week

Honestly… if u really like sb, I think you should find another job like my friend. He’s doing it and is just like whatever about sb now.

I work at a licensed store and found out the new employees, some are the ones I helped train with [becausewe literally dont have anyone who is an official trainer other than manager at the time], are getting paid 13 hr. My one coworker told me about this and both of us have been working here for about over 7 months and still are making 12 hr. My manager doesn't know why either after we ask some of the new employees to confirm what one had told them this. Not to mention I wanted to go full time and my manager said she couldn't because the grocery store who licensed this SB can only have 2 full time employees at SB which is her and the assistant manager. And when I was hire I was ask what hrs I wanted and I gave 30-35 hrs as my min and max and was orginally 10- 4:30. Apparently I'm only allowed to work 28 hrs as a part timer? And now I work 10-6 and have been after a month of me working there. Even tho the hrs I agreed on wasn't that?? My barista book from my training, which I had to do TWICE, went missing and now I have to REDO ALL OF MY TRAINING.
