This job is draining me (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by roovols
I just worked a 5 and half hour shift, 10am - 3:30pm.

I was on solo drive for 90% of the shift, with one of my co-workers helping me from time to time, but I was assigned to drive thru for the entire shift.

I had one 10 minute break.

I’ll never understand how some folks work here for multiple years.

5 and a half hour shifts are the worst. i also work solo drive a lot and it’s hell for my back and legs. i feel my body degrade every day 😭

it’s rough on my back/legs too!! i try to tell my shift this but they come up with some BS excuse as to why i can’t move. like at least put me on dto where i can move around!!!

I probably would have lasted longer if I’d discovered like, weed, or something 😒

when i have 5/5.5 hour shifts (99% of my shifts), im put on drive bar for the entirety of my shift. i also work mornings which means i work during peak and im always on drive bar and im honestly getting worn out

I feel the same. I’m in college full-time and I am eternally grateful that I have starbucks which provides me my healthcare and my college but it’s so draining. Not gonna lie, I miss retail, food service is not it

The other week I was on register for my entire 7 hour shift

this is what a lot of my shifts look like, except a couple hours earlier than yours, and i always feel so guilty that i feel exhausted after. its reassuring to hear that its not just me feeling this way! take care of yourself op :)

the only way ive been able to last almost 8 years is by taking alot of vacations 😆 like i take 5 or 6 a year. most are 3 or 4 day weekends but i helps me relax and gives my body a break. not gonna lie ive thought about quitting but i enjoy the chaos to much to leave lol
